Jason Castro has been low key awesome over the last month. Since April 24 he's posted a .308/.475/.577 line and scored 17 times in 17 starts. More importantly he has 17 BB's over that stretch.

Overall his OPS on the year is up to .780. I like most people never viewed 2013 as repeatable, but I've always thought he was more than capable of being a decent hitter. If Castro can actually carry his weight offensively this year that would be some nice found money.

He definitely has a financial incentive to have a bounce back year... free agency is coming up, and he's making himself more $$$ for every day his BA goes above .200.

If Gattis can spell him a few more days, hopefully we don't see him wear down significantly towards the end of the season.

    No doubt.

Steve Stone said on the Sox broadcast last night that some stat org using pitchFX data rated him the best pitch framer (he gets the highest percentage of borderline balls called strikes) in MLB so far this year.

A month ago everybody was ready to get rid of him. Funny how things work. No surprise that the offense is way better with him getting on base. It gives Altuve chances to drive in runs.

You claim "not caring", yet still felt a need to respond. Silly Turd

Your claim of "promptness negates ignorance" is a turd-worthy precedence.

I don't particularly care about racing or hockey, but still realize it's significance and positive effect for a community.

The inability to compartmentalize is not masculine.

    Go Stros!!

He's earning a lot of money in this contract year. Gonna be hard to keep him.

Just keep pluggin away at .500. If we can get back there by the ASB I like our chances to make a big run over the second half.

Just win more series than you lose!! And the Astros will continue to improve.

Yea...have to give Castro props. I was pissed at him earlier in the season because he was severely under-performing at the plate but he's really turning it on now. He is seeing the ball much better and his swing looks great!

Never understood this mindset. You want to win every single game equally as much, and should be equally disappointed with a loss, no matter if you are up 2-0 in the series or down 0-2.

Winning 10 series in a row 2-1 is the same as winning 5 series 3-0 and losing 5 series 1-2.

One mindset burns you out in July.....the other mindset allows you to take a breath, have some perspective, and rally for a strong finish. It's a marathon.....not a mad dash.

I think he was just commenting on how you don't really expect to win against Sale.

I don't expect him to finish with these numbers, but if he did, he could warrant a qualifying offer.

I still think trading for Lucroy would have been the best offseason move Astros could have made. Even if he caught only vs lhp he would be a great addition at 1B and DH. Although I do think Tyler White has his worst slump behind him and should produce like he is capable of doing. And, yes, I was in the crowd that recognized Gomez was not a good addition to this team last year. Anybody know if Bregman has had any more outfield starts at CC?

Hoping for a win against Sale and the Sox today. Let's light him up and give him a loss!

Colin Moran better get used to DH or 1st base, because Correa, Bregman, Altuve are cementing 3rd, SS, and 2nd base.

Fisher, Springer, and K Tucker are going to manning the OF long term.

So at 1st base , it is either Reed, Moran, White, or even Sigleton if he picks it up.

White at DH batting cleanup and Gattis at Catcher! Tony Kemp with another start in left!

Cameron could be CF if he develops into a pro hitter.

    Thinking of the Playoffs:

Relief: Gregerson will get us to the playoffs, not sure he can finish it though. He has nice movement, but giving up 4.00 era not good. I worry about Giles being little more than Mitch Williams, but the look is necessary to see if he can be Rivera. All that said, Harris may be worth a look too as he seems unhittable, and that's kinda what u want.

Bats: As for hitting in the playoffs, I think we will be fine if the changes are made to plus .250 hitters in the bottom of the lineup. We seem to have decided to do this.

Starters: But we do still need a Quality #2. That has to be addressed otherwise we will still be like the Dodgers. Hoping Kershaw can win, which doesn't always happen, and then praying for another good start.
