Another name with the O's that was seriously involved in the Bud Norris package?

    Jake Arrieta.

He was a nobody...great arm, no idea how to pitch. He just happened to turn it around at age 28? once he got to Chicago.

Arietta was traded by the O's for Scott Feldman, not Bud Norris.

"Involved" implies that he was actually traded for Bud Norris. I was clarifying that he wasn't, in case there was any confusion.

I assumed everyone knew that we did not in fact trade for Jake Arrieta, or Manny Machado or Jim Palmer for that matter. He was "involved" in the trade talks when the Stros sent Bud to Baltimore.

Gives extra credibility to Luhnow. He has an eye for talent. But gotta hand it to him, he rolls the dice. He may look really bad after some of the recent trades, but you got to give help to the ML team. And rookies are all over the place, some never make it, other take a few seasons, others need to get shocked by getting traded or DFA, while a handful get it almost immediately.

Was looking through some transactions on the MiLB website, and I saw that Franklin Perez was assigned to Quad Cities from extended spring training today.

Perez signed for $1 million in 2014 and made it to the GCL in his pro debut last year. He was rated by Baseball America as the Astros' #21 prospect entering this season.

Bregman should be on cusp of darting into the top 10 of all prospects. From the sound of things, there was very little hype about Bregman. I think most saw him as trade bait with Correa at SS.

Boy an offense consisting of Correa, Altuve, Bregman, Springer will be awesome to watch. If Reed, Moran, Fisher, K. Tucker, play slightly above average ML hitting, the team is going to score a lot. You already can see star power in Altuve, Spreading, and Correa. Bregman should be another star power player.

    Wow. He's out-Correa'ing Carlos Correa.

An infield of Altuve, Correa, and Bregman will hopefully be fun to watch for a really long time.

Great sign for Perez to be in full season ball already. Huge upside there.

So.... Garrett Stubbs extended his hitting streak to 15 games tonight. He's got 2 homers for Lancaster. I had no idea that he had a hitting streak going.

Franklin Perez allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5 in 3 innings in his 2016 debut. Looks like he was in the mid-90s with his fastball.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">First four pitches for Franklin Perez 3 fastballs (94, 94, 96) then a 79 MPH breaker gets the swing-and-miss strike three <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Astros?src=hash">#Astros</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cheddar?src=hash">#Cheddar</a></p>&mdash; QC River Bandits (@QCRiverBandits) <a href="https://twitter.com/QCRiverBandits/status/733112188085391361">May 19, 2016</a></blockquote>

    From BA chat.

Matt H. (Houston): Alex Bregman has been on a somewhat unexpected tear in the AA Texas League. Has his performance there led you to re-evaluate his ceiling?
Ben Badler: I’ve always been high on Bregman. The game power he has shown thus far has been more than I would have expected at this point, but more than anything, he’s just reinforced the confidence I had in him before. He has a tremendous swing; short, simple, on plane through the hitting zone forever, and his approach is outstanding too. He’s the real deal.

Dave (NJ): Has anything changed with Francis Martes this year? Was the pat month or so just rust or is his tools noticeably worse this year? He had a good start last night.
Ben Badler: He hasn’t been throwing enough strikes and he hasn’t been able to command those strikes within the zone. You can have great stuff, but you can’t strike out anyone when the count is 2-0 or 3-1, and hitters have all the leverage in their favor when you’re falling behind that often. I do think that’s something he can and will turn around though.

Jeff (Kent): If Albert Abreu harnesses his control, can he be a future front line starter? Or is he closer to a mid rotation upside?
Ben Badler: Between the delivery and the repertoire, it’s a starter profile all the way for me. He has a plus fastball and three secondary pitches that can miss bats. You’re right, he does have to get the ball in the strike zone more, but there is a front-end starter ceiling in there.

Kyle Tucker went 2-4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 stolen bases (18) in Quad Cities' win last night. He's now slashing .323/.399/.436 on the year.
