I'm not against this honestly -> but as a plan C (obviously), the problem (for op) is that in a plan C scenario i think we'll eventually try to bring here Llull which has also a decent chances of being cheaper than Lin.

But you see, the counterargument for this is that if Lin can't succeed with D'Antoni as head coach, then they ran of arguments. I'm as big of a Lin fan as any and has accepted long ago that he is what he is. A solid role player on a playoff team, which the Rockets can use right now to be honest. For those morons who keep on saying he's the asian Steph Curry if D'Antony is the coach. Well now they can finally shut up since they will finally get proof one way or another.

I actually really liked Lin OFF THE BENCH. He was a playmaker when Harden was not on the floor - something we've sorely missed. Lin & Harden cannot coexist on the floor at the same time..but he's a really good backup point guard.

I think Lin will do better now playing next to a ball dominating star player compared to last time he was with the rockets. He averaged 17.5 ppg and 4 apg starting as a SG for Nic Batum playing next to a ball dominating scoring guard in Kemba Walker. He started 16 games last year in place of Batum. That's a good enough sample size.

    A few points.

    - Kemba Walker is way more ball dominant than Harden, all you have to do is to look at the numbers.

Minutes per game: Walker: 35.6 Harden : 38.1
Touches per game: Walker: 91.1 Harden : 85.1
Total time of possession/game (minutes): Walker: 7.8 min Harden: 6.3 min
    Avg. Seconds/touch:Walker: 5.15 sec Harden: 4.43 sec
    Avg. Dribbles/touch: Walker: 5.31 Harden: 3.84

So even though Harden plays more minutes, he still possesses the ball less. He holds the ball less per touch and he dribbles less per touch.

-Lin's number were generally better in Houston than they were in Charlotte and his useage is only slightly higher (1.8%) this year. Look at the difference

    FGA: '13 (HOU)- 10.9 , '14 (HOU) - 9.3,'16 (CHA) -9.3
    FG%: '13 (HOU)- 44.1%, '14 (HOU) - 44.6%, '16 (CHA) - 41.2%
    3pt%:'13 (HOU)- 33.9%, '14 (HOU) - 35.8%, '16 (CHA) - 33.6%
    AST : '13 (HOU) - 6.1, '14 (HOU) - 4.1, '16 (CHA) - 3.0
    PTS: '13 (HOU) - 13.4, '14 (HOU)- 12.5, '16 (CHA) - 11.7
    Useage: '13 (HOU) - 20.8%, '14 (HOU) - 20.4, '16 (CHA) - 22.2

If the Lin and Harden experiment didn't work then the Walker/Lin experement is even worse. Lin is playing fewer minutes , shooting worse, getting fewer assists and scoring fewer points in Charlotte than he did here in Houston.

Lin wasn't traded because he couldn't play with Harden.Lin was traded because we needed to clear cap space to pursue Carmelo Anthony.

    - Harden came off the bench in OKC because they needed Sefolosha's defense in the lineup.

    - Durant isn't a better playmaker than Harden by any measurable stat.

    - Harden doesn't share the ball often yet he's #6 in the league in assists and #6 in the league in pts created off of assists?

You're citing perceptions that aren't backed up by the reality.

How do you people misremember things so quickly?
    Melo was never coming here.
Lin was traded specifically to clear cap space for Chris Bosh. Bosh said he was coming and we had 72 hours to match Chandler Parson's offer sheet from Dallas - so we have to move fast to dump Lin's contract. We moved fast - dumped Lin off to LA, and then Chris Bosh ****ed us.

If Bosh never says "If Lebron leaves MIA, I'll go to Houston", the Rockets never trade Lin. It's really that simple.

As a Rockets fan, unless we can trade away Beverley and get someone similar back at $3-4m/ yr (what Beverley is really worth imo), then I would not wantto pay Bev $6m and Lin $7-8m/yr to play PG when Harden plays defacto PG for 40 min per game, and whoever plays PG next to Lin just camps at the 3pt line.

As a Lin fan, it's obvious Lin will not be stupid enough to sign here for this role. And even if D'Antonio is hired, harden will have the PG role anyway so it's all not going to happen.

Lin just needs a PnR offense as PG. He did fine under Clifford. HEe doesnt need to chase/follow D'Antonio. Just no dumbass coaches like Byron Scott and not playing next to a perimeter player like Harden/Kobe that plays the defacto PG role.
