Is Briles out yet? No more rape n' shoot offense? I hope they get Singletary and just have him yell at everyone.
How this hasn't been picked up by ESPN or another major medium is beyond me. There is not even a blip about it on ESPN front page or college football page. Yet you can be rest assured that Manziel will be a topic on both Around the Horn and PTI every single day this week.
National Media is finally taking notice. Scathing opinion video from Clay Travis. http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...egedly-beat-up-girl-school-did-nothing-042516
Report: 'No indication' Waco PD told Baylor about 2013 Oakman report http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf...aylor-about-2013-oakman-report-145321413.html
Here y'all go, something positive, someone who didn't rape someone, finally. http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/700-level/former-eagle-danny-watkins-receives-rookie-year-honors
Baylor officials not commenting as regents receive report on rape. http://www.wacotrib.com/news/higher...cle_5a7b31fc-ff63-5d1d-aadd-0dc06be98f00.html “The members of the Board will be guided by their faith as they make significant decisions for the welfare of Baylor students, the direction of the institution and the good of Baylor Nation.” "The regents approved a $6.3 million investment on 14.5 new staff positions for Student Counseling, three new staff positions for the Title IX Office, and three new Baylor police officers, according to the press release." I would think this hurts any case Baylor might have for not have violated (intentional or not) title 9 laws if they are hiring almost 15 new staff members. That doesn't mean anyone is guilty of anthing but it sure does suggest that they feel like they fell short in meeting the law. "Baylor spokeswoman Lori Fogleman said in an email that “the information in the release is all we have to share,” and the school did not make the board of regents chair available for an interview following the meeting. Baylor traditionally makes the board chariman available for an interview after regent meetings, though there have sometimes been exceptions because of travel." I mean this isn't a clearly bad sign but it sure isn't good. If they didn't want to share the report (which they are already taking flack for since the whole problem has been transparency) then there are things they just don't know how to handle however this is purely speculation. My prediction stands. Out of the post season for 2 years and the AD falls on the sword and "resigns." Briles stays as long as there is no direct evidence against him. I think he'll still have his job even if it's one of those, "well he should have known" deals. And at least 1 random assistant coach is fired because that always seems to happen and lose 20 scholarships. More importantly, this hopefully helps change the attitude and culture at Baylor and every other school that the mistreatment of women will not be tolerated.
I think the fact that they already made a massive staff upgrade to Title 9 makes some difference but it's likely going to come from the public response. National coverage of the story developments have been light but it'll likely get a lot of coverage when the regents reveal the results of the Pepper Hamilton report. The fact graduation was last weekend might factor into why they haven't released the report or a summary of the report despite reading it last week.
Damn. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/baylor-faces-accusations-ignoring-sex-assault-victims/story?id=39203248 [First part of story here, the rest is in the link]
So Art Briles knew about this and chose to ignore it. He didn't lose control of his program rather he was complicit in its degradation, which is a lot worse. Baylor is done, Briles will probably have to step down due to pressure. Briles may not coach again other than some small time program willing to take a chance on him in a few years.
This makes me absolutely ill. Kick Baylor to the curb. This is really one of the worst things I have ever read about any university, ever. Be gone.
Sadly, they're not alone nor are they the highest profile school. If FSU can skate by with no sanctions, jail time or even coaches being fired, I don't see why Baylor won't. If you want to punch a wall, read Jon Krakauer's Missoula.
