Ya'll going on about some b cup t*tties and neglecting the genesis of perhaps the greatest romance of the century.
Too deep and calm for Cersei . . . IMO What would the Sparrow hope to gain from this? He has handled the situation masterfully up until this . . . . it would surprise me if he did this Rocket River
Robb and Cate were in the riverlands when he was just a squire in the Night's Watch barely out of training with nothing but a sword to his name. Now he's a seasoned lord commander with an army of wildings at his beck and call and within striking distance of Winterfell. Big difference. No reason to leave Rickon alive at all since him being alive undermines his authority as Lord of the North if any of the the other northern houses were to find out a male Stark heir was alive. Leaving him alive isn't worth the risk to draw out Jon and Sansa.
Littlefinger sent Jon the letter supposedly written by Ramsay. He needed a two front attack to help the Knights of the Vale.
Now that makes a lot of sense. And so, maybe it was Littlefinger who convinced that Umber guy to turn them in, as part of a plan to boot out the Boltons. Still, using Rickon like a pawn doesn't quite make sense from a Stark-supporter perspective.
I laughed when Sansa and Brienne rode into Castle Black - I knew the instant RedBeard saw Brienne, I turned to my son and said 'He just fell in love!'
Perhaps because of its large international audience, this show usually doesn't do subtlety with the plot. Typically what you see is what you get. It would be cool if the Umbers were secretly backing the Starks or if Littlefinger had written that letter, but I doubt it.
This. Also don't forget that they show a Bolton rider with the Bolton sigil and the Bolton armor riding through the Castle Black to deliver the letter. Could that also be misdirection by Littlefinger? It's possible, but as Commodore mentioned, the show runners have strayed away from that trend as it requires more explanation and more screen time, which is already limited given the predicament of having only around 15 more episodes after this season, and with so many plot lines still needing advancement.
She could do worse. He's responsible enough to be a sponsor for Wyndham Hotels so he can't be all bad.
I don't know if Littlefinger wrote the letter or not even given the fact that he parroted the phrase "come and see" (which was repeated several times in the letter) earlier in the episode. That said this episode was full of repetition of past events and words. The writers were having the characters continually quote other characters on the show a it happened several times. You had Tyrion quoting Littlefinger by saying "We only make peace with our enemies". A couple minutes later Missandei would use that same quote she had just heard from Tyrion. You also had Jon basically quoting Ser Alliser's very last words of "I fought, I lost, and now I rest" when Jon was talking to Sansa and he said "I fought, I lost". When it came to repetition of past events you had LittleFinger gifting Robyn with another Falcon albeit this one was real this time. You also had Daenerys walking out of another fire (this one still burning this time) to the Dothraki. The repetition in this episode wasn't just limited to past quotes and events as well. You also had three instances of three different sisters all telling their brothers to basically to straighten up and get their crap together as well.
This is something Cersei would do, deep? She's not so deep, she puts her family above all and her children above all else. She wouldn't even care that she'd be making more enemies with the Tyrells, at this point now that she's lost two children and a father I think she gives no Fs about repercussions. The question is does she realize the Tyrells could be a powerful ally or if she's just settled on them as her enemies. Also yeah, Rains of Castamere did play last week. Something is up. Only problem is that Olenna. Why would she say anything about it. She vaguely mentioned it to Margaery.
Y'all are right, we shouldn't be taking the fun out of this. Let's have a lighthearted discussion: Who do you want to see die, top 5 Ramsay, Walder Frey, Olenna, Littlefinger, High Sparrow
1. Ramsey 2. Walder Frey 3. High Sparrow 4. Littlefinger 5. Olenna (Why is she on this list?) If I may add, I want Elia Martell on this list somewhere in the 2-3 range. I liked Doran and Trystane. Such a shame they went out the way they did.
1. Ramsay (enjoy him but his death will be so sweet) 2. High Sparrow (he's just so smug) 3. Robin Arryn (just too annoying) 4. Walder Frey (he's awful, would be higher but I haven't seen him in so long) 5. Jorah (I don't dislike him but it's gonna happen anyway and I think it will be good for Dany's storyline) And yeah honorable mention to Ellaria Sand, though I wouldn't mind if her death was off screen and just mentioned as an aside.
But he still wasn't interested in revenge now. An alive hostage is worth more than a dead one any day.
HBO has released the next two episode titles... Link: http://www.hbo.com/search?type=schedule&q=Game%20of%20Thrones Spoilering due to book references. The first is just a common phrase we have all heard before. The second one though is particularly interesting as to who it could possibly be referencing and what that person could be bringing as far as asoiaf theories are concerned...could be another big moment episode in a season that has already been filled with big moments. Spoiler
I included Olenna because I really don't like her passive-aggressive character. She appears to be comforting Sansa about losing her family in the Red Wedding, while actually turning her into a pawn for the assasination. One minute she is marrying her daughter to the Baratheon heir and the next she is assassinating him. Similarly, she openly says that Tywin's corpse stinks at his wake , but later uses him and requests his word to be honored when she pushes for Tommen to marry Margery immediately.
I assume you both mean Ellaria Sand (Oberyen's Paramour), Elia Martell was his sister whose long dead.......
