I get your point, but Vogel knew the orlando job was available the day he and Indiana parted ways.

Well, let's hope JVG doesn't have other plans.

It's all about Ego. Which coach can we control? Most likely Kenny Smith.

Seems obvious that JVG was chosen awhile back but they're going through this feigned coaching search.

Unless it does come down to waiting for Dwight to opt out (but we could trade him anyway in that case). Or finding the assistant coach.

Something is holding up the final say-so. You don't just interview chumps. We haven't fallen off that much. Certainly we would have been more of a draw than Suckramento.

If he ever gets another coaching job I just hope he reconstructs his offense style. I never liked his offense with the Pacers and it was not good, which is why he was fired in Indiana. I hope he learns from that and makes a better offense. But over all I think he is a good coach and a player's coach. Larry Bird made a mistake firing him.

Why, because Vogel is headed to Orlando? Maybe Houston was never top of his list. I Used to have confidence in Morey and now I don't. I'm not on the fire Morey bandwagon but I have no faith in his approach anymore.

    From an Ear:

With coaches being hired rather quickly at this point, allegedly, Rockets mgmt has their top 5 choices in mind. Some are obvious, one would make some of us cringe (me, too), one is an outlier and one I don't know enough about. I would be surprised if a risk was taken on a former player as a coach from what I've heard, but you never know. Hell, Luke Walton is a head coach after being known for a terrible tattoo all of those years in LA. :)

Control is another issue. Some coaches are looking to be pure coaches...some want the SVG/DOC/POP control of the team. That complicates Morey's position completely. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I'd expect more clarification before the Finals, at the latest.

Morey's hot seat, if the whispers are accurate, may depend on this transaction. It sounds like he's expected to deliver the goods. If not, the Morey era may stall for a bit.

The vibe I get is that he's safe for now, and while MANY are angry in MGMT, there's an understanding of a terrible season versus numerous successful ones. So, perhaps, second chances may exist in the higher ups, too?

Lastly, as the Summer begins, watch for The Birds. Both types.

    Peace and Love to ya'll.

(And I hope we get our Coach)

Thanks. What the hell does "watch for The Birds" mean? As much as I love Doc Rocket, not really in the mood for cryptic messages. But genuinely, thanks for the intel...though it sure as hell isn't reassuring

It means the Rockets are signing Sue Bird, Larry Bird, and Birdman...

I think the only part I got is that Kenny is in our top 5 for sure?

This makes me worried about JVG regarding all this talk of control. Morey needs to put his ego aside.

Going through all the rumored candidates and trying to assign them...

Frank Vogel, Jeff Van Gundy, Mike D'Antoni, Chris Finch, David Blatt

    Jeff Hornacek

Kenny Smith? Stephen Silas? Bill Self? Shaka Smart?

    Sam Cassell? Kenny Smith?

Wouldn't give any of the rumored candidates complete control except for maybe JVG.

I could see Lionel Hollins or any college coach(Smart/Self) asking for it.

Expected to deliver the [head coaching] goods? But everyone said Les hires & fires the coaches!

    Hawks
    Pacers
    Pelicans
