So our plan is simple: lose for 50 more years, then become the new Lovable Losers, and then players will clamor to sign with us and end our drought of sucktitude.

....boy this is a really depressing start to the season. Just 6 weeks ago I was so full of optimism and hope.

    It's a long season, it's a long season, it's a long season!

Yeah, that is eye opener. Highly unlikely he's over there to make room for the great Mott Hyde. They were only gonna move him over there when he was near the end of the line in the minors.

It really has to. He only supplants Correa if he's like Ozzie smith/Omar visquel better than him at SS.

Correa very well is the Astros Jeter, where he retains the SS position.

He could bat left handed and probably match Valbuenas production.

Looks like Musgrove is getting exposed in triple a....gave up 1 run in 5 innings. Probably doubled his era.

    Excited about his potential.

This is the same bullsh!t that kept Jeter at SS for years, to the detriment of the team. Or Biggio at 2B if you want something local.

Bregman should supplant Correa if he's a better shortstop, if he's not, then he shouldn't.

The first part of your sentence really disappointed me. So happy that it ended like it did.

    Perfect world, yes

But if Correa wants to play SS, and you want to keep him here long term for his overall value, you leave him at SS

He will be offered more money by the big boys when the time comes, if you want him to be a lifetime Astro you don't force him off his position, if he is good there

What about Moran? Is he still playing well?

Correa has a chance to be the Astros Jeter... That's far more valuable than a marginal defensive improvement at the position. Between all the b****ing about the Astros struggles, people have missed a spectacular 2-3 week run of SS defense from him.

Yankees don't regret having a career HOF SS, Astros don't regret the time Biggio spent at 2B that eventually got him to the HOF, and unless Bregman is a gold glove caliber SS (weaker arm offsets the slightly improved range), he's not supplanting the franchise.

It is a good problem to have. Two elite prospects at SS. One already in the Majors, the other probably just months away. And as Luhnow said, they'd find a place for Bregman to play.

I trust the Astros scouts know what they are seeing. Other than fans it didn't seem the Astros Brass was all too excited about Preston Tucker or White (just two examples). They promoted them because they were tearing up AAA pitching. But AAA pitching is not ML pitching. And the incredible adjustments ML pitchers do on a whole is incredible, to bring back to Earth a hot start to a Young ML guys careers.

It sounds like the Astros see something special in Bregman....

If Reed gets back on track, that infield is going to be Amazing.

Moran is proving the pro scouts right. A guy who can hit .300 but little power. And for a 3rd baseman, it is not what you want. And it's not like he is anything more than a solid defender. He has the qualities of a true ML player, but as an average unspectacular type.

Bregman and Correa have star written all over them. Moran is another guy playing 3rd base.

At this point on the Astros he may get the nod over Valbuena, if Astros want to be more patient with Bregman. But to this point he is probably trade bait, because he still has solid but unspectacular value.
