my ideal scenario: The Rockets will announce in a press conference later today that Jeff Van Gundy will return to be the team's head coach. Sources also confirm that Van Gundy has reached out to Rick Adelman to oversee the offense.
I think Vogel and Van Gundy are the two that I see that could potentially put their stamp on this team defensively. I'm not completely against Cassell or Smith simply because of the success of Kerr and Brooks as former point guards who came in and had success turning around a young roster. The type of "player" coaches in the mold of McHale and Adelman that would be great for a veteran group will not get through to Harden and the younger guys on this team.

Vogel or Van Gundy. I like Van Gundy more just because I like the dude on TV. He's a great interview and would immediately improve the national perception of the Rockets, in my humble opinion, and he's freakin' smart. I think he can adapt to the "new" NBA. Hell, he's been covering it for years now as an analyst. Get a dictionary and look up the meaning of analyst. See? Vogel might be less of a risk, though, coaching wise. My opinion's here, because I no longer vote in non-public polls. All polls should be public, folks.
If JVG is going to be Head Coach, then I would want Melvin Hunt and Nancy Lieberman as Assistant Coaches.
