It isn't the lack of nudity or even the distance from Westeros You know why TV Dany's story sucks now? Prior to conquering Mereen, her plot was filled with interesting fleshed-out characters with their own motivations (Viserys, Khal Drogo, Xaro Xhoan Doxas, Daario, etc.) and stories that actually evolved. This is through about half of season 4. What has happened since then? It's one thing that she's been stuck in Mereen fighting against an uprising, it's much worse that what she's fighting is pretty much nebulous. Who exactly are the "wise masters"? What is the real strength of the Sons of the Harpy? Beyond those stupid masks and murders, they aren't tangible. Just more stupid words in empty conversations (much like her friggen title). In addition, the characters surrounding her have gotten ridiculously stale (Hizdar zo Loraq, Grey Worm, etc.) Things will obviously change later this season, but even Tyrion and Varys are effectively neutered in terms of the plot. Her one redeeming quality was her dragons, but they haven't really done crap in between burning up that one unsullied slave master in Season 3 and Drogon destroying the fighting pits at the end of last season. TL;DR: A strong, mature plot and supporting characters will always overcome poor acting and a lack of nudity
Dany started out being a somewhat sympathetic character and then pretty much turned into her brother with all her stupid titles. You figure she would have learned something during the 1st 5 seasons.
Vary's found out who was funding the Harpies in the last episode and it seems Tyrion will reach out to them in the next.
Supporting characters did make Dany's story watchable, but I have never been interested in it at all. I get that she's a Targaryen, rightful heir, and her dragons are endgame against the White Walkers, but the plotlines of dragons vs White Walkers has been so tertiary and not as interesting as the political maneuverings over King's Landing. Jon Snow and the Night's Watch against the Wildlings/White Walkers along with Dany and the dragons could be a totally different show compared to Westeros. They are very loosely connected, and honestly have not been interesting until a season or two ago.
Gawd, you put an apostrophe in Varys? When did everyone start putting an apostrophe in every word (character name, in this case) with an "s" at the end?
Honestly, and I know it wasn't this way in the books, for story purposes I think they would have been better off introducing Danny in like Season 3 and then cutting a lot of the meaningless stuff. She just seems so detached from the main plot and all this other stuff going on with her is just time wasted.
I'd be happy if they replaced all that mereen garbage with Dragon training montages. That and the fat night watchman scenes are when I start snoozing
I wanna see the dragons drink raw eggs, punching meat and jogging through the streets, accompanied by the Rocky soundtrack.
I heard that he and his hot gf are going to get tattoos together in the next episode, and we get to see her wildling butt as she lays fully-nude, Shae-style on a table while getting a tramp stamp of a white walker for him to slap. Should be a great scene! seriusly though, he and her are two of the best actors in the show. I actually really like their scenes.
