I like your theory, in principle, and I do like the thought that she is manipulating Greyworm. I think it would be a good story arc.
I don't care enough about Danny's story to care about whether her servant will betray her. I know she factors the endgame...she has to. But everything between now and then seems like it will be pretty boring.
So one of my seniors that I've helped with his senior essays and comes in to discuss GOT every monday morning brought me a gift this morning! http://store.hbo.com/game-of-thrones-iron-throne-replica-statue-7-inches/detail.php?p=447508
Dany has plot armor, very hard to care about her scenes as we know she'll magically get away scott free.
Seriously My interest level in her plot has bottomed out If she says all those fricking titles again I will just gag She went from Poor little Rich girl to GIVE ME EVERYTHING CAUSE I GOT TITLES . . .you suppose to do what I say . . . cause I got title she is just annoying now Rocket River
Agreed. Can't stand listening to the titles being recited. There was a time where I thought the show was trying to make that annoy us so that we'd see her develop from being a snotty whiny brat into something more, but it's beyond that now. She's not really redeemable for me. I just can't stand to listen to her anymore and so even if she ends up helping characters I like it will be a soft clap.
I think she first started to really annoy me when she made such a big deal about never doing nude scenes again so that she can be taken seriously as an actress. I mean, maybe I'd understand that if she was a good actress, but she's not. She took a role that required a lot of nudity, it got her name out there, then she decided that she wouldn't do it anymore. Kind of ridiculous IMO. Anyway, after that BS, I started paying a lot more attention to the acting that she was doing and it's terrible to the point where it's almost the only thing I see when they do her story. On top of that, it's not really going anywhere and it's boring.
Seriously confused by this post. Do you dislike Dany the character or Emilia Clarke the actor They aren't the same person Also, wtf does nudity have to do with it? It doesn't make a difference to her plotline
Yes. The point was that after the actress pulled her nonsense, I payed more attention to the acting job she was doing and her poor acting skills harm the character. Also on top of that, I don't like that the storyline has gone flat, not really progressing for a LONG time. You know, pretty much exactly what I just said. While the actress and the character aren't the same person, you view a character through the actor or actress that portrays them. You don't have that problem when reading the books, and I feel differently about the storyline that they have going in the books for her.
Well, her nudity is the only interesting thing about her plotline... Dany's story has always been the weakest because it's so disconnected from everything else. It's been 5 years and she still hasn't touched Westeros.
I can't speak to the nudity (I'm a married man, I don't look at such things ), but I will say that this is the biggest issue with book readers and GRRM's story as well. In the original blueprint, GRRM had a time jump between the 2nd and 3rd book, and the timejump still had her coming back to the Dothraki and then sailing to Westeros at the end of book 2. So this is OBVIOUSLY a stall tactic.... I mean the entire Mereen plot. I think there is an interesting story to be told about a young, confused, foreign ruler who frees medieval slave cities, and has alot of the same problems that Danny has, but in the context of a story that 9/10 of it takes place on another continent, its quite problematic to say the least. Needless to say though, Danny is going to be very, very important to the final season of GOT even in the show. I suspect there is still A TON we don't know about her past, and how it connects with our central characters. I have my theories (some go way against what most people think will be revealed). My guess is we are about 4 or 5 weeks away from finding out. Imagine being a bookreader whose been waiting 20 years to find out why the hell we should care about an evile separate from the entire story.
Now you have the plot line wrong, too. She has already "touched" Westeros in Season 4. One of Tywin Lannisters last acts as the King's Hand was to hatch a plan to undermine her growing influence, based on Varys intel regarding a large, skilled army and her being advised by two well respected, battle tested knights from Westeros. Tywin even said "dragons haven't won a war in hundreds of years, but skilled armies do all the time." Now Tyrion ends up helping her and the Master of Whispers has shown up. That's a lot of Westeros characters. So while she is not yet physically in Westeros, Tyrion and Varys plot lines have moved there. I always like her stories. Plus it's often some of the best cinematic shots in the show, since she travels so much. We could equate it to frodo and sam's long side adventure plot line in the LOTR
I don't see how anyone one can really blame Emelia Clarke for not wanting to do any more nude scenes as the Dany character. I can't believe I'm saying this, but after all, the other nude scenes should have been adequate. Dany's story makes much better sense in the books than in the series.
