When you think drew barrymore, what's the first film that comes to mind?

    I think drew barrymore has been around so long that this will be interesting.

    To me, I always think of Firestarter. I believe that this was her fire starring role. It's pretty inconic film for her in her career.

    Scream

    Being young I had no clue who Drew Barrymore was when I first saw it. Didn't even realize she was in ET until later, so Scream still sticks with me as the movie I first think of.

    Child celeb with horrible parenting/guidance that was on the wrong path with here life about to crash right before her eyes even before it really got started. Then miraculously getting back on the right path with good people around her and living a respectable straight arrow life. Kudos to her and the good people that helped her along the way.

    Poison Ivy, which I've never seen; but I think she was on Letterman around that time, got on the desk and lifted her shirt. Plus she still was known as some kind of child actor heroin addict or something, and I had a weird crush on that Sara Gilbert who was in the movie with her, which; again, I never saw. The only other film I immediately think of is Win a Date with Drew Barrymore, which made her seem kind of cool or accessible despite thinking the protagonist was a little off.

    I have a bad feeling all actors and musicians were potentially horrific parents in the '70s; but just not being abusive or carelessly exposing them to too many graphic situations could prevent any real damage. I thought she just cleaned herself up in time to call in some deep industry connections from her granddad, and possibly Spielberg, and basically finance and produce her own film career.
