I had to break out my tiny violin to play along with Dwight. This struck me as nothing more than some kind of PR damage control for his next contract. He can talk about him and Harden working things out because he knows that he's already outta here. This was a show for his next team so they could feel better about paying him his $30M per year.

Chuck and Kenny really pulled no punches for the most part but they sort of glossed over what happened in LA and Orlando. I believe that what happened in LA was particularly instructive but was ignored by Les and Morey because they were out star chasing. He flopped in LA due to his happy-go-lucky attitude and **** like that won't fly with a cold-blooded competitor like Kobe. Kobe was about winning pure and simple and that's just not Dwight. When things got tough there and Dwight was faced with making a definitive statement about what type of player he was, he disengaged and came running to Houston. He did so because there was no pressure and folks in Houston were drinking the koolaid. And look what happened this season, when things got tough he (once again) disengaged and went back into his shell with a big smile on his face.

He's really a very nice guy but a terrible competitor who is simply not equipped with the heart of a champion. Nor is he serious about making the effort that's required to be one. And at this stage in his career, it's really too late to learn the post moves or develop some sort of jump shot. And let's not even mention free throws.

Another thing that interview revealed is the dislike that Barkley and Howard both share for the way basketball is played today. Thanks to the rules changes - zone defense, etc., the style of physical play that formerly required having a big man like Howard in the post has been devalued. Rather than being a focal point of the offense (like with Hakeem, Shaq, Yao) a big man with Dwight's skills are now heavily dependent on the guards and the scheme coming up with ways to get him the ball in the paint. That's why Kenny and Charles were saying that Dwight needed to start pounding the boards - doing the dirty work - something he won't do because in his mind, he's still "Superman" and still an "elite" player who should be a focal point of the offense. And as his skills continue to diminish it will become harder for him to justify getting paid as a "max" player because in the end it always comes down to the money.

I appreciate the fact that Chuck was willing to attempt to ask the tough questions... but I couldn't help but yell at the screen "spit it out dangit."

Dwight is the socially oblivious person who has been surrounded by people all his life who never disagree with him. That interview had more evidence of prepubescence than professionalism. "Grow up" is an understatement.

He doesn't hate it but notices the obvious. Dwight isn't helping Dallas. Just look at Dwight's current skillset and asking salary. Mavs are better off going for a blue-collar with as good or less athletic ability yet smarter big. I think the 7'2" Moroccan fellow might be better than Dwight when given all the factors.

He's talking about the ESPN show His and Hers where they must have been commenting on Dwight. Those two hosts are pretty annoying and have nothing of significance to offer any sports conversation. Just sports talk filler.

It really shouldn't be hard to get 10ppg from alleys, put backs, pick and rolls, 6 ppg from post up touches, and the rest from FT line. He could easily be a 19 and 12 player still, but we didn't use him at all this season. At all. He's the same Dwight that beasted in the playoffs his first 2 years here. His first season was 18 and 12. That's really not that far off from prime Dwights production. 2 more pts and 1 or 2 more rebounds and he was all of a sudden supposed to be a bum? He will be fine on his next team if they get him involved in the offense. Houston and Morey's way is a lost cause. Trying to be the Warriors without the shooters or screeners and a ball dominant stat padder.

He needs to go to the Bucks, Blazers, Wizards or Hornets. But, being Dwight he will end up in Dallas for bigger media market and media attention.

I don't mind resigning Dwight to a 2 year deal and giving Harden another all star free agent this summer. Get rid of Brewer and bring in Jared Dudley and hopefully resign D-Mo to 2 year deal also. Hope the coach can fix the team's defensive issues which if he's good, he probably can.
Make all the contracts match up with Hardens to end in 2018, that way if they all disappoint, we won't be stuck with Dwight or whatever free agent we get this summer minus Harden after he goes to LA in 2018. Better they all leave at the same time so we start a rebuild with our full cap space available.

I'm thinking he's referring to this from Jemele Hill. The "Her" of "His and Hers".

listening to the interview now at work, will edit once I've heard it all.

This doesn't seem like something that should have been on TV. This seems like a private meeting or at someone's house type of talk. Very awkard indeed. Chuck is too raw.

This was a terrible interview in my opinion. Was not structured at all, very impromptu, and not in a good way. My God this can't reflect positively on our organization.

Everyone sees Dwight as he really is except for Dwight himself. His biggest flaw.

I don't think this is true at all. Morey can't sign him to a contract or anything right now, but Dwight is a member of the Houston Rockets organization until he opts out of his contract. He can have as much communication with members of the organization as he wishes. You can't "tamper" with players you already have under contract.
