See I hate it that Dwight is playing coy here. There is nothing wrong with saying I'm considering opting out to explore my options. No one would fault him. I also don't believe him when he says he doesn't care about being liked. He does. It's obvious.

How so? They only said what everyone already knew - that this decision was about money and not basketball. This is Howard's last shot at big money so financially he has to take it. That's what Barkley was talking about.
Dwight is such a mental midget. Kobe's drive at being great...I wanna be the greatest ever and DGAF about anyone else in my way. Dwight's mentality - Magic Johnson told me I'd never make the NBA with my skinny frame... That sums up Dwight. Its not his physique that needed "training" but rather his mental makeup. If Dwight was ruthless and hungry on the defensive end, there isnt one player that can dominate the game like him. But that is the issue. He will never be ruthless. Every year...same ol song and dance from Dwight. People shouldnt fall for it either.
Hilarious that the media is trying to repair his image now that they know he can leave the Rockets and are basically pushing for him to opt out and without fully saying it, to leave Houston. It's amazing how every team and media member wanted Dwight Howard on their team, but as soon as he goes to Houston, he goes right back to being hated. Now, they want him to be a free agent so he can get on their team after non stop hate, so they are giving him respect and repairing his image only to tear it down again if he resigns with Houston, but if it were another player the narrative would be how honorable it was for said player to resign. Hell, even if he took a major paycut to stay in Houston, they would still find a way to write an article about how Dwight doesn't care about winning as if were some bum bottom dweller franchise. I'm convinced the media HATES the Houston Rockets and it all started back in 1986 when the Rockets knocked the Lakers out of the playoffs for their annual Lakers Vs Celtics matchup. There had already been conspiracies the year before when David Stern told a fan the league needs a game 7 and sure enough the Celtics who led most of the way in game 6, end up getting beat at the free throw line by over 20 pts int he 4th quarter and LA wins game 6 and game 7 to win the series. It was all made worse when the New York Knicks were expected to win in 94 and we ruined that too. We crushed the 2 media giants hopes. You don't screw over the Lakers or Knicks when they are good. You basically have to bend over for them otherwise you are public enemy #1. David Stern himself said he wishes he could have the Lakers and Knicks in the finals every year. Sure we have a new owner who seems great so far, but the media bias is still left over from the Stern regime.
Some of you clowns are overly critical. Dwights time here was good and respectable. As he declined, we completely stopped giving him touches. He pouted, yes, but handled it well for what you would expect from a former franchise player. That being said his contributions no longer justify his contract so he needs to go. Does that make him a mental midget? No. Should that overshadow what he did here? No. If you think it should you are a somewhat disgusting and ruthless fan.
sorry to hurt your feelings but the rockets dont even have a player with the ability or competitive spirit of wanting to dominate. Only player ive seen in the nba with that attitude is Russell Westbrook and i would happily trade for him
Barkley did an excellent interview. No walking on eggshells and he asked the questions everyone wondered about. Get off you highhorse
I don't care how much practice and conditioning Dwight does during the offseason, he has never and will never have a post game. All the all-time great centers (Hakeem, McHale, Kareem) have been mentors and individually trained him to no avail. He is 100% athleticism with 0 skill.
no, chuck preached about what dwight should do and then proceeded to reel off a list of backhanded compliments and slights mixed together. sure he asked him if he was opting out, but overall, a pretty tactless approach to interviewing a star player who probably didn't deserve to be asked "why people don't like him" and probably deserved to be treated with more respect. At least, that's the way i see it from my "highhorse", Chandler.
Truth is, Dwight has shown no offensive move and has proved himself to be a liability on the offensive end all season long, if you play basketball long enough you know your teammates' limitations, DH is not good at post up, he is not good at free throw, then it's easy to come to the conclusion that DH is not the best option and start your offense, obviously he is not supposed to initiate any offense, then why should he get more touches? if he can set good screen and roll hard, he will get lobs, that's it, whatever words i hear, i don't care, i look at the games this year, and DH is a liability, that's end of story, if i am GM of the Rockets, i won't sign him to anything above 10 million a year, that's it
Nobody from the Rockets front office and/or players said they want him back. Yes we love what he does off the court, we just don't want he brings on the court, especially when you can get it at a cheaper price without the passive aggressive nature of D12. Great guy who told us nothing of what he's doing in training to improve? Don't see 1 thing of what Hakeem and/or McHale has worked with him on.
