Jeez this forum was so much more enjoyable when the Astros sucked. In the pat year 90% of Clutchfans has turned into god damned Billy Beane.

It's "intents and purposes", no apostrophe.

And your "its" should have been "it's".

Its really uncanny how much b****ing/complaining happens during losses... and how its utterly silent here during wins.

Hell, half the stuff that is complained about is actually resolved/improved/corrected during wins... but is largely ignored for whatever reason.

Would rather DH Gomez... but if Springer is nursing something, and needs to rest, then this makes more sense.

Yea I get using today to give Springer a bit of a breather

Marisnik should be in CF though. Even though it's been obvious since day 1 that Jake was the better defender in CF, I have understood why Gomez was given the CF job and Jake moves to RF or LF when he plays. Dealing with the massive ego's that these guys have, it's not like it is for us fans just sitting here saying "do this, do that", you have to stroke these guys ego's sometimes to get the most out of them. Just the nature of the beast...BUT...at the point we are at now, Gomez should just be happy he gets to play, no more pandering to his feelings and letting him play CF while the better defender moves to RF

It's probably also worth considering that someone who's a better defender (Marisnick) can adapt more quickly and easily to being great at other OF positions. As much as the positions are very similar, there are some noticeable differences to changing from CF to a corner. The ball coming off the bat is significantly different, the types of spin you worry about are different, and foul ground / wall bounces / etc. on the field are important.

Not to say Gomez couldn't do it. But he's started 32 games in the corners out of 900+ in his career...the last of them coming 6 years ago. Jake, on the other hand, has done it more recently--and as a better defender, adapts better anyway I think.

A shame that Devenski can't get any run support, but things are starting to look up with McCullers coming back. The bad news is Lance's first start is against arguably the best lineup in baseball.

    Fair point

I think with the sheer size of CF at MMP though, we should be putting Jake in CF anytime he is in the lineup

We need Fister to pitch well tonight and start earning some of his FA paycheck.

Only one good start all year. Quality starts giving up 3+ runs per outing is not good enough.

Quality start is 6 IPs with 3 ERs or less.

From Doug Fister? A quality start is something we can't complain about.

We need 7 innings and 2 runs or less = good starts are better than quality starts.

Those starts are obviously better, but to expect that out of your #5 starter is a massive reach. A guy who does that regularly is a staff ace.
