Also helps when relief pitchers who throw gas can do so with a tad bit better location/precision. Fields needs to go... he's had more than enough opportunity over the last 3 years. He's on the wrong side of 30, will probably be entrenched in his current role regardless of where he goes, and needs serious work on his secondary pitches, along with fastball location, to be on a roster.
Agreed Marisnick maybe makes that play, Jake is also a worse...think about this...a worse offensive player than Gomez. So how much does that help you?
Fields is worthless too. Why keep sending this gas can up there? This is why Hinch is not a contending manager.
Hinch has done that at least three times this year. Been down one or two runs, goes to Fields, and the game gets totally out of hand. Just unacceptable.

It's both of their faults. Fields leaves flat fastballs right over the plate and it gets hit well... but Gomez should have taken a better route to the ball. Pretty simple actually.
