Im afraid that if the Rockets picked Whiteside, he will be a an out of control cancer to the team. He will already have the financial security, and will just be a bonehead after getting it.

    Great read Bima!

I'm really not too keen on sinking 20+ mil into yet another center, especially when we have Capela on the roster making 1/10 of that. Let's spend the money elsewhere, preferably on guys who can create their own shots and hit jumpers.

Great writeup, but we're wasting our time even thinking about Durant or Horford.

Great writeup Bima, making us probably the most cap informed fans in the NBA.

Morey - if he remains - has a ton of work to do - and, IMHO, a very small window in which to do it.

However, contrary to popular belief a good one or two players who fit can transform a team.

Not worth all that money . He's worth about 20 million, even with the new cap and thats being generous .

Players Worth = What the Market Sets.

Market will set Horford at the Max.

Exactly. It's hard to look at Durant and Horford and say they should be paid the same. The problem is the max is artificially lowered to make above average player's salaries the ceiling for it. I think if this were a truly open market a team could easily pay a Durant 40-50 mil a season and not bat an eye. The same is true of LeBron. Meanwhile, Curry and Harden make less. I think teams that don't sign Durant will end up "overpaying" for their FA additions. That's why I'm ok with Durant or bust. If we don't sign KD, use our cap to create options for other teams, take on talent and assets so other teams can make room for a big addition. If Dwight really does leave, we have time to go into a mini-rebuild.

Thanks Bima, always great to get this update at varying points in the season to see where the Rockets stand.

    And...

Did anyone else read this and literally laugh out loud at DD being anywhere CLOSE to humble.

    I am still laughing.

I hope the biggest change of attitude is opting out as planned.

Barnes sucks dude. He is the 4th option on GSW getting wide open looks and is still shooting terribly this postseason.

I would almost prefer these two guys over Durant. I don't see this version of Harden getting along with any other superstar, even if Durant is capable of playing with someone like Westbrook. Harden just commands the ball too much. Hartford and Conley can play alongside him and Hartford is a decent shooter and can open the lane for Conley and Harden to do their thing.

a max contract for horford? which horford is thisqhom everyone talks about?

the only players u can get away with giving a max after kd and bron are drummond and whiteside. their impact on the game is at an all star level, and have mad potential.

Is Horford worth the same amount as KD or LeBron? No. Hell no. Is Horford worth the $30 mil he's going to get, sure.

Much like is KD worth $30? No, he's worth $50, easily. He can't get that under the CBA.
