I may have been drinking too much in Champions Pavilion last night, but I could have SWORN I actually saw Carlos Gomez draw a walk. Can anyone confirm?
I honestly wouldn't mind putting McHugh's name in that basket as well. He looked good in his last start, but the previous 4 were brutal. I'll stay on the positive side and say that if 2 of those 4 guys can keep it together, we are in great shape with McCullers coming back.
And the pitcher got yanked immediately. Give up all the runs you want, but walking Gomez was the last f**king straw LOL.
Even with his great outing last week, his opposing BABIP is still a stupidly high .377, and he has recent great results with this organization. He will have to really bomb to be jumped by one of those guys.
A 6-man rotation sounds good. We have multiple pitchers throwing below their normal MPH, plus McCullers should be worked back slowly. Give everyone some extra time to recover. Who's being sent down once Lance returns and how will 6 starters effect the bullpen? He advanced on the bases too without being thrown out!
He actually looked pretty good against the Twins, but caught a couple of bad breaks and unfortunately the Twins made him pay. I think Fister is clearly the worst of the bunch, but he has had his 2 best starts the last 2 times out.
If this is how our (potential) starters are going to pitch with a permanent spot on the line, maybe we can draw this McCullers coming back thing out for another month or 2?
Josh Fields becomes more and more useless with each passing day... but not sure he has any options left (nor should that be a factor in keeping him over a better pitcher).
I know that messing with the space time continuum is a touchy subject, maybe asking giles to not give up runs to break ties ensues with an apocalypse;but we'd be in better position to win games. So yes it has been a couple of guys, giles, starting pitcher and gomez. If those live up to what they were supposed to do, everything falls into place. Risp always rises to the level, since we've always been a streaky team. 7-9 hitters have always been what they are so I don't put that on team effort. Hinch himself has said a couple of guys were trying too hard. yankees game. Royals, tied game, walks 1 gives up homer. boston game same thing. Oakland game, we're up. 2 Seattle games, we had the tie or lead. It changes everything, especially those 2 out hits. We can easily spin it to Giles has been awesome, just the ball spins at impossible angles when hitter makes contact. I'm cheering that he eventually turns it around but we can't act like his appearances had no domino effect on our losses. Before this derails, Go stros! Game tonight!

They've had more losses that he's been no part of... vs. the ones he has. By no means am I saying he's doing fine, but his issues are magnified because he's a disappointing new acquisition that the organization gave up VV for (and until the other guys actually perform at the MLB level, I'm not going to lose sleep over them). Trust me... nobody is giving him a free pass. The threads and in-depth-discussion of his problems after each and every one of his meltdowns are evidence of that. But this team turning it around involves more than simply "If Giles had won those games, we'd be over .500".
The Astros are on a two game winning streak right now. This is only their second time winning two in a row. Both in the last week.
this has existed for 4 or 5 years at least now.. have you not heard about any MLB players taking their 2-3 days of paternity leave?
yeah Kratz is DFA'd for sure...it will be interesting to see if they try using Gattis as a backup C which means Stassi can stay in AAA and Tucker can stay as DH (or maybe Reed comes up?)
