This team was playing by JBB as sex toy for a whole season, because they don't want to spend money on a new coach I think.

Because they are actually interviewing people to see what's out there. How do you know who is a good and bad coach from the outside looking in? The answer is that you don't know.

How do coaches get their first break? Because they are interviewed and won the job.

The Rockets are doing their due diligence and seeing all of their available options.

You are just going by name recognition.

The Rockets aren't interviewing these people for show. They are taking it seriously.

Their past performance is the best interview.

I don't think there is another Steve Kerr in their 15 more candidates list. LOL

Plus, how the hell Jogel even can't get a chance to interview?

They take it seriously and finally decide to hire Christ Finch to be head coach.

I always like watching Kenny Smith analyzing the game. He's the only one on that set outside of Ernie that doesn't sound like a blithering idiot (well, yeah, that leaves 2 idiots). I feel the same way when I hear Chris Webber do commentary on games. I never knew either of these guys had it in them when they played. They're awesome ... even when I may not agree.

The one thing that intrigues me about Kenny Smith is his Tarheel pedigree. He was coached by one of the best basketball coaches ever. He's often spoken of how Dean Smith coached him and what made the Tarheel teams so great. Those who played for Smith generally learned how to play basketball and understood the game. They were all studs coming out of high school, but all had to accept the game of basketball before their invdividual games -- even Jordan.

Anyone hoping for Smith as a coach is hoping there's a coaching pedigree and the ability to teach like a Dean Smith there. I couldn't give a rat's ass that Kenny's a former Rocket. I'm trying to live in the present.... and trying to convince myself that Smith would make a good coach for this team. I'm really not sure how he's going to handle the X's and O's.

    Good post...

But let us not forget that one of the best coaches in Rocket history was not a great X's and O's guy, but he did surround himself with a great staff...

I was the first to say Morey's "McHale has been let go, money is no object to Mister Alexander" was bulls***, but that was coupled with a lack of available coaches (who would look like they were waiting in the wings to take McHale's job).

Quit being so negative. Leave that to cheke64.
