Sac haven't broken 40 wins in the last 10 seasons. In fact, they have only broken 30 wins 3 of the last 10 seasons. Their one star is all but guaranteed to leave after the season. Their coaching carousel is as bad as anyone in the league since Adelman was fired.

Don't disagree that there is a half-empty way to look at our attractiveness. But the premise that we're getting passed up because of it is wrong. Other than thibs, you can't point to a coach taking a position that's a more attractive situation than ours.

Start of free agency & summer league.

The same poster started a thread about "Mark Jackson should be our next coach" or some such thing. Nearly threw up in my mouth. The ole "half-yack".

The Rockets expect to have a coach named well before July 1.

It is going to heat up quickly over the next few days. If they follow their plan, they will be conducting second interviews shortly.

I thought Cousins was signed through 2018. Does he have an opt-out? I think the owner is way too meddlesome over there, but in terms of the roster, are they really any worse off than the Rockets? They have a 25 year-old budding superstar. They have some decent role players. They have the #8 pick in the draft(assuming no lucky ping pong ball bounce). And they'll have some caproom to play with this summer.

If Joerger can work things out with Cousins and they draft wisely over the next couple years, they could be a pretty solid team in the near future.

Yes, they probably will but "worst case", July 1st or right before.

Ha, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

By the end of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, they will have interviewed 8 candidates and the list isn't very inspiring.

    Kenny Smith
    David Blatt
    Jeff Hornacek
    Stephen Silas
    <strike>J.B. Bickerstaff</strike>
    Chris Finch
    Sam Cassell
    Mike D'Antoni

If they're conducting 2nd interviews shortly, it's presumably someone from this list.

Blatt is a good coach, to be honest.

    Ha!

We assumed JVG & Vogel but...???

Feigen said "they know where he is", referring to JVG. Great. I know where he is too. And ...??? Is JVG interested or no? Is Leslie interested or not?

Same for Vogel. Feigen: They contacted his reps. OK and ??? Is Vogel interested? Is he not interested? Is Leslie interested?

Are they fallback candidates for those other 7?

So far, nothing on [potential] interviews with either.

Keep in mind that these are the known candidates that have been interviewed. The Rockets right now have really limited leaks.

It is also likely that some of these candidates will be offered jobs as assistants.

The Rockets have spoken to Jeff Van Gundy in person. They have spoken at a minimum via phone to Frank Vogel.

I believe the Rockets have made it known that Chris Finch would have to be on the staff of JVG or Vogel in order for any interview/offer to take place. The Rockets are happy with their offensive system and do not view it is an area in need of change. They feel it is designed to bring out the best in Harden's game offensively and they only want to overhaul the defense.

if that is true, that is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. You don't kiss off a good head coaching hire because you are in the tank for Chris Finch. THat would be the end of my confidence in the organization. In fact, please stop forcing assistant coaches down the throats of legit coaching candidates. This is getting ridiculous.
