Confused here... So you don't think the theory has any foundation? Or you just hate the phrase?

Jon Snow is spilling pints blood in that scene on the left. That shot is not the end of the scene. It's followed immediately by a large amount of blood...that's why we all thought he was definitely dead in the cliffhanger.

Here's the cliffhanger last year...just skip to the end.

No one was saying last year after the cliffhanger "but there was no blood." Also, Melisandre cleans the blood off him.

Does anyone know who they cast for Rhaegar Targaryen. Isn't there a strong possibility he is going to be seen in the next episode? I would assume the casting of Rhaegar would be a huge deal? i can't find much about it online.

They have a credit for Howland Reed but no Rhaegar on IMDB.
Plus if they stay true to the source material I believe Rhaegar has already been killed by Robert by the time of TOJ

    I am seeing an opportunity for a spin-off series here...Bran and Raven's Excellent Adventure(s)

I don't want to throw cold water on your enthusiasm. That battle doesn't look on the docket. The attempt to rescue Lyanna Stark from the Tower of Joy, yes.

As far as battles? I can say, but will have to spoiler, because so many people here get their panties twisted:

Episode 9 took the better part of two months to film and so consists primarily, if not exclusively, of a great battle in the North.

Also there will be a siege of Riverrun by the Lannister army, which is supposedly big in scope; but I don't know how much will occur there. Still, something to look forward to.

The Raven did say it's dangerous to stay under the sea for too long. Seems flashbacks must be short if they involve Bran. Maybe he learns to do it himself and ignores the Raven's warnings or back stories are done without him?

Btw. Do the books even involve Bran seeing deep into the past. Or is this all for our benefit?

As I recall, yes. But it's connected to the weirwood trees, meaning he can only see things wherever those trees are. It's also suggested that he can see the future as well.

But, what Bran saw in the last episode wasn't in the books, at least through book 5. Neither was a vision of the Tower of Joy as we expect to see next episode. So in that sense, it is for our benefit.

I'm going to be super disappointed this weekend if...
The Umbers turn over Rickon Stark as their gift to Bolton. That will be so disappointing. Greatjohn Umber was the best Northern Lord we've seen in the series to date after Ned and it will really suck if his house betrays the Starks.

Looked like the karstarks from the trailer. Not umber who meet with ramsay. Karstarks hate the starks

I haven't watched one second of this show. Not trolling. Just a cultural phenomenon I've totally missed. I did see The 1975 in concert here last night though, and it was terrific

I can't imagine anything good. I don't doubt Bolton's eventual demise, but Rickon is in a bad, bad, bad spot.

So what is Jon's next move? Does he leave Castle Black before Sansa get there? How many Wildlings are there? They go with him and fight for him why exactly?

Osha is about to get cornholed, and Rickon will become Reek Jr. Not a good situation. Benioff and Weiss know how to setup cliffhangers and teases, albeit some corny and cliche.

Do they really have a choice? Jon is literally the only one with any power who supports their claim to The Gift (big piece of land in the North). As you heard this episode, the Umbers are no friends of the Wildlings, and have fought them their whole lives. Same likely with the Karstarks and obviously the Boltons would kill them and their kids just because.

Jons next move is probably at the moment to leave the watch and find Sansa who he would think is the last surviving Stark with power and fight for their house to be reinstated. However I'm betting Sansa runs across him on his way out and they join forces, and then go with Davos to recruit other houses in the North (House Reed, and Mormont id think)with Sansa being the Stark name they want to rally the north behind.

The big wildcard being Littlefinger and the knights of the Vale. Without Jon Snow I'm 99% postive that the Vale fights for Sansa to wipe out the Boltons or at least plays the Lannisters against the Boltons, waits and then smashes whoever survives. But with Jon Snow in play next to Sansa it could change how Littlefinger wants to play the Sansa support card.
