So Bird "respects" McHale too much to have him work for him, is that what he thinks of his coaches??

Still rather have Van Gundy. Vogel doesn't move the needle for me.

Dude fired Rick Carlilse. He's clearly not easy to work for and he realizes that.

Gundy or Vogel ....... that is the question now.

Most important thing is we need real assistants with head coaching experience.

**** to the No to Vogel. His numbers are also inflated due to coaching in the ****ty east.

Would getting both be overdoing it?

No but both more on the defensive side? Vogel got paid like 2.5 mill a year.

I mean Vogel won't' cost too much. I bet Walton ends up having a higher deal. I think the right hand assistant should be around 1-2 mill a year.

    Vogel + D' Antoni ?

I am not sure about Vogel as well. I like him and he is a good coach, but he gives me cause to pause. He may be a great defensive mind but I remember watching him allow Lance Stephenson to be a ball stopper and create And1 mixtapes on the court.

Frankly, no one out there stands out. Obviously JVG and Vogel stand out from the likes of Pringles and VDN and JBB but still....

Mauri screwed the coaching situation a few years back. He should have listened to me and fired McFail after the Portland humiliation and hired Steve Kerr who was my lead guy.

Now we are left interviewing a lot of cast offs and left overs like Pringles, VDN, Hollins etc.

Let's get Van Gundy back so we can lose more 1st round series after being up 2-0! First were going to win 45 games tops and then were going back to Oracle and losing by 20 or less in 5 games! YAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Bird is on point about the coach having their players' ear thing. Once it gets stale, it's over and time to move on.
