Honestly, anyone who would help the team win I would welcome. Fans on a message board would not matter if we are hoisting a trophy. Easy trade off, lol. He doesn't fit here though. Teammates liked him but the system isn't suited for his game. You need 3 point shooters around Harden and Lin standing around at the 3 point line was a mess. Even if they hire D'Antoni he is going to base the P@R around James. Lin needs to stay in Charlotte as long as they offer him a fair contract. He found his spot
Interesting to see if Lin goes for a bigger role and/or more money in free agency or stays with the best fit of a team that he's had thus far in his career...
I agree with this, with the exception of going somewhere where he's got an existing relationship with the coach and some of the players. Right now, that is really only Brooklyn, and the player he knows (Wayne Ellington) is on a short contract.
King1 is a great poster. Very level-headed and I agree with his points. Lin has his good and his bad. And he doesn't like racist comments about black, asians, etc. To me, that's very fair and I appreciate that. CometsWin is just a delusional hater that supports only black athletes (he never liked Yao and Lin) and pro-black government policies such as skin color-based (rather than income-based) affirmative action, then says "I'm not black, I'm hispanic". LOL
I think that Bkn will make him a much bigger offer than Charlotte. Interesting to see what he chooses.
Don't like Brooklyn for him because you know a lot of fans will automatically be expecting him to recreate "Linsanity" because it is right down the street so to speak of where it initially happened. It's not a fair or realistic expectation. Also their front office is a disaster. Chicago would not be a bad spot surveying teams
That goes against my "smaller market" view obviously but a good place to swing for the fences if he so chooses
Too bad the Hornet signed Jeremy Lamb to the 21m 3 yr contact. This was a head snatcher for me. Lamb never proved anything yet but Cho offer him 7m a year. So, 6-7m for Lin per year seem like a discount.
Batum is going to get Chandler Parsons money, and probably more. I think if the Hornets end up resigning their free agents for wild money, Lin is better off leaving, because that core of Kemba, Batum, Jefferson, Zeller, Marvin Wiliams and MKG will be 1st round outs most seasons.
They thought they had gold and were getting a jump on the cap. Lamb sucks. Always will. It's like how people got excited about Donte Greene here after summer league.
Agree, although having the Knicks doing poorly in the same city would take some spotlight off...but agree that the Nets' front office is a disaster. And of course, as a former NJ Nets fan, I would hate to have to root for the Brooklyn Nets...
As noted, it all depends on what kind of relationship he can have with the coach. Also, being the "replacement" for Derrick Rose would come with some additional challenges.
Not sure I agree with that. MKG would improve this team beyond what they had this season. That would likely have landed them the 3 seed this season. And given a starting lineup of Kemba, Lee, Batum, MKG, Zeller (good but not great), having a strong bench will be critical and Lin could definitely lead that like he did this season.
I think the Rose situation is perfect. There is no pressure on him. He doesn't have 100's of millions on the books. He will get a lot of spot starts too
