He's coming around. Has been making more consistent contact over the last week, and getting some ringing doubles out of it.

Eventually, those doubles will be HR's.... much like what happened in his minor league development.

Just need to remember how young he is... far from a finished product. Will be prone to these sorts of stretches till he "gets it".

I was curious how he and McCullers would respond to last year's workload/expectation. He'll be OK, long-term (and certainly sooner rather than later, in terms of this season) - but he's a young kid who's now been thoroughly scouted with a collection of (mostly) zero bats behind him.

It'll be fun to watch him adjust and fight through it. Remember, until the end, Bagwell's second year was by far his worst - a near across-the-board regression.

Bagwell didn't really regress his 2nd season. And in some areas, he improved.

His only true regression was his MVP season vs the following season.

I think Carlos will be okay. Strange thing is, his defense might be more worrisome than his bat.

You're right; I had '95 in my head - but was thinking it was his second season... I even *knew* there was a broken hand involved - it just didn't click for me...

    No kidding Carlos, no kidding!

    Astros slumps:
    Gattis: 0-for-12
    Valbuena: 0-for-17
    Rasmus: 0-for-11
    White: 0-for-13

Jason Castro has a five-game hitting streak in which he's hitting .400 (6-for-15).

Jose Altuve has reached base in 25 of the Astros' 27 games this year.

Jose Altuve leads the Majors in steals (10) and doubles (12).

Luke Gregerson is 15-for-15 in save opportunities since last August.

Springer has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games, hitting .304 in that span with five homers.

Fiers: 24.1 percent of fly balls hit off him have been HRs. MLB average is 11.9

Fiers has walks just three of the 120 batters he’s faced this year.

Yesterday's game marked only the second time in team history (first since 1964) in which they won with at least 5 XBH and no singles.

Astros are 0-for-16 when trailing after six innings.
