We'll see just how much smarts are mixed with the narcissism. But I agree that a major pivot, a successful pivot, is possible. Americans have very short memories and even shorter attention spans. He will dominate the media narrative -- of that I'm sure.
Interesting... a very principled position to take. That said, in the privacy of the voting booth, I have a strong hunch that the principled position flies out the curtain and the level next to Donald J. Trump will be pulled. "Party before Country." Sure, there will be justifications, as that lever is pulled ("lesser of two evils", "can't vote for Hillary", etc), and for some time after. But nevertheless, come November, principles be damned, you will vote for Trump. Remember I said so come November...
"outshining".... I doubt she is worried about that. I also don't think it is a guarantee that Warren would have wiped the floor with Clinton (I personally would have supported Warren). Hilary has an exceptional infastructure, political allies and strong support among voters that were likely to not support Warren (African Americans/Women in the South). There is a reason Warren hasn't come out and backed Sanders. She is protecting her political future and ambitions. I don't know that Hilary will choose Warren, but she is very smart and would help with Sanders voters. Also, have a two woman ticket would feed into Trump's issues with women. I am not underestimating Donald Trump. Lost is all of this, is the fact that Trump has done something no one else has ever done. He has no political experience, he has zero strong ties to the Republican heavies, he essentially ran on his own and will win the Republican nomination. Trump is very charismatic and can potentially appeal to moderates and the apolitical.
Uhmm why are throwing rolly eye faces while quoting me?? Yeah I know it's been known for a month. I kind of actually made this very thread... Clinton has had the math in her corner for a while. I am referring to her being a weak candidate. Because even though she has "won" she is still losing states. And how when I looked at Huff Post at that time there was not a single link you could click on to read about it. It's a extremely easy concept and idea to grasp Nook.
There isn't much coverage on Sanders winning Indiana because it means nothing. Hilary spent no money in Indiana and has focused on areas important in the general election like the the South East. If it doesn't change the complexion of the race (it doesn't), and Clinton had moved on, and Sanders only picked up a net 5 delegates... why would it be a big story? FWIW it is currently the third listed story on the Huffington Post.
this is a really stupid ad from Hillary <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Very nice of Hillary Clinton to run a pro-Trump ad, too? <a href="https://t.co/lYGCyHb7BA">https://t.co/lYGCyHb7BA</a></p>— Mollie (@MZHemingway) <a href="https://twitter.com/MZHemingway/status/727948570507288577">May 4, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
It is only pro Trump ad if you believe a majority of the country agrees with him on those points, which I have a hard time believing.
What a sad state of affairs we find ourselves. Presidents used to be heroes, people we looked up to!!! Now we will have an election decided not by which candidate is more popular but by which one is less unpopular.
So begins Commodore ****posting pro-Trump tweets in an attempt to force himself to believe he's the best choice.
Not sure why democrats are that mad? You have two liberals running for office. 1.) For the first time in a long time the Republican is less of a War Hawk then the democrat. 2.) He's given money in the past to planned parenthood 3.) He's ok with a healthcare safety cushion for society 4.) He's ok with gays using whatever bathroom they want. 5.) He's taking a neutral position regarding Israel v. Palestine. Those are pretty liberal positions??
Yes, they are, and it will help Trump in the general election. I used to think Trump would be destroyed in the general election vs. Clinton, just based on the huge demographic changes since 1984 (then 14% of non white voters compared to 30% non white voters now). Trump is going to do the expected giant pivot to the center and try to rally the voters against any and all establishment policies that has farked the working American worker (read: Clinton and Bill's NAFTA). If he is successful in that, all bets are off.

Yup. Pretty bad when people on all sides hate a major party candidate for president. Good for Hillary taking advantage of it. Republicans have made the case as to how much of a joke Trump is.....when it's a one on one national election, Hillary could be the first president in modern history to get 62% of the vote or more.
That's what we've come to as a country. Both of the best candidates we can come up with are total and complete garbage. Bill James predicted this might happen 15 years ago in response to the ridiculous circumstances that led to Rafael Palmeiro winning a gold glove award. The Republicans had something like 15 or 16 candidates for President, and Trump won based on plurality in a huge field. That's how BS like this happens.
What scares me, is that any person with an ounce of decency and a gram of common sense should be appalled that a such a person could run for President. Sure, I'd watch a reality show with that sort of lunacy, but the leader of the free world? I'm not even Pro-Hilldog here (or even Berns). I would rather watch the GS Warriors illegal screen their way to an unprecedented 50 NBA championships in a row than have a man like Donald Trump have a chance at being President.
The only thing, and admittedly this is a major issue, I have with Trump is his economic policy. On the off chance he actually makes this race close, I'd like to know if his policy is feasible with greater scrutiny. But yes, overall I'm much happier Trump as the Republican nominee than someone like Rubio or Bush. Even beyond the fact that his odds of winning the general is miniscule. And no, I'm not underestimating him. I thought his chances in the Republican race was pretty good once I saw it's Cruz and Kasich against him. But I can't see him beating Hilary. So many things has to go right for him, FBI investigation coming through, major terrorist attack perpetrated from a Muslim group, etc. all have to come together for him to win IMO.
