Also to be fair, Selmy wasn't wearing armor, was way past his prime (Dwight-ish), and faced more than 5-10 of those guys since he single handedly killed 13 of them (probably killed even more on the way to the alley). Ser Barristan was... A painter who only used red.
Spoilered because it's a quote from the trailer that can possibly spoil a part of the next episode or so. Spoiler One thing that popped in my head today, was that in one of the trailers for the season, you hear Tormund Giantsbane saying "I thought he was the one who would lead us through the long night." Well at this point it's pretty clear that he (Jon) is back. So my guess is that either... 1) He says this before Jon makes an appearance to the group downstairs. 2) Tormund was talking about Mance 3) Jon has decided to do something else? or has changed to something not similar to his past self Either way, I'm glad Tormund and John are back. I enjoyed their partnership in the previous season.
and further, fwiw, the guy with no name who stated the rule didn't even mean death, much less a resurrection. Arya just lost her eyesight for offing someone on her death list while using a face from the tomb. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/r4k3Oug4lP4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Jon Snow is back! That really wasn't an elaborate ceremony to resurrect him though. Why was everyone so damn impatient to leave? If someone invited me to a resurrection, I would've stayed for more than 30 seconds Just saying. Did they have a party to go to? Not the best shot scene there.
In the books Selmy is smart, never goes anywhere sketchy without wearing his armor, and is still talented enough to kill an in-his-prime famous gladiator one on one. The series made Selmy go down like a r****d to clear the way for more Jorah Mormont time.
Very true. I think the actor who plays Selmy also got tied up to another show. Happens all the time on tv series. You just hope it doesn't happen to the best sword fighter in all of westeros.
I am still trying to figure out the significance of the Onion Knight lingering at the sight of Snows stabbing in ep. 1. He stares at the blood stain intently as the other men haul off the body. I have re-watched the scene a couple times for Easter eggs but got nothing...am I over analyzing the scene?
Because he had great admiration for Jon Snow with his short time knowing him. He also believes Jon Snow that the Wildlings are the least of their concerns and are needed as allies in the impending war with the Whitewalkers. He understands that Jon Snow needs to be the Lord Commander for them to stand a fighting chance against the Whitewalkers.
Perhaps also (and I am just spitballing here), maybe he has heard whispers of who Jon 'really is'? I mean he was tight with Stannis for years, and Stannis being Robert's brother, there is no doubt that Robert's endless pining for Lyanna could have been a topic of conversation over the years.. And it seems clear that Robert was the only one who never saw the situation clearly. Whatever else Stannis was, he was clear-eyed, and one could easily see Stannis having suspected the truth all along. Which could also explain both Stannis' and Davos' admiration for Jon - after all, it was only Robert who had sworn to kill all of the you-know-who's, not Stannis or Renly or anyone else. Stannis had a deep respect for a person's station - recall even when he was sending messages out about the 'Kingslayer', he insisted Jaimie be called 'Ser' - 'Whatever else he is, he is still a Knight.'.. Not that any of that would make its way into the show, and as I have only read the first book, I have no idea if perhaps it is something which ever made its way into a book either. Just trying to figure a reason for Davos to have an inordinate amount of desire to see Jon brought back..
Agreed that Stannis was a true Knight and everything he did he thought he was doing it for the better good or because he was the legitimate heir but there's no way he knew about Spoiler R+L=J. There's no indication whatsover of him knowing in the books. The whispers would only come from Ned or Howland Reed.
Not a spoiler at all, its just how it was described in the books but I spoiler'd it to avoid being that guy. Spoiler If I remember correctly from the books, there was something about the way his blood was cold and dried up so quickly. I think that's what he might have been staring at.
Possible spoiler So I just started listening to book one and when the book vis being narrated through Jon Snow's...he is describing Tyrion Lannister...he mentions how Tyrion has two different colored eyes and his hair so blonde it could be WHITE. Could he truly be Targaryen?
Spoiler There is a belief by some readers that Tyrion is actually the son of Mad King Aerys and Tywin's wife Lady Joanna. A product of likely rape. It's been well documented in the books that Aerys had an unhealthy infatuation with her. It would absolve Tyrion of being a Kinslayer for one. It would also open up the possibility of Tyrion being one of the three heads of the dragon along with Danerys and either Jon or Aegon. My money is that Aegon dies unexpectedly and Tyrion is revealed to actually be Targaryen.
another,,,by the Sand Snakes, after killing Trystane Martell "You're a greedy b**** -- you know that."
There is one theory that you can easily find on google and I think it is hinting at a reveal in the next episode/whenever the Tower of Joy is explained. Spoiler His blood is in the shape of a dragon
Every time I have to see that ****ing spoiler phrase I feel like tearing up the virtual GoT universe, and maybe even my books. Stupid fad is stupid.
