There are bad airports. And airports that are not unpleasant. Only airports on my bucket list are those in places I want to go.
Have you been to airports in some of the underdeveloped countries, i.e. in SE Asia? I've been to one that's basically one small building... or a really big house. I don't know how they'll survive international events.
Sometimes you have no choice when it comes to layovers. Some layovers can be more than 15hours long and when youre in a nice airport, it makes such a big difference. Ive only been to Incheon from OPs list but its nice to have museums, media centers and be able to take a shower all in one terminal.
What the balls. So I was in Terminal 1 and only Terminal 1 the times I go there. I just googled the airport and the other terminals seemed so much cooler! Now, I see why some of y'all have it on your bucket list...
Changi was interesting. I had time to burn, so I saw random things like their outdoor rooftop garden. Narita was nice. Can't remember anything else worth mentioning
I'm such an idiot, here I am thinking this whole time that we just use airports as just a transportation tool to get on a flight to my destination, turns out the airport IS the real destination! I've been doing it wrong for years.... I will make sure to truly appreciate the beauty of some of the world's greatest tourist destinations, the airports. I will soak in the joy of going through TSA, the wonderful airport restaurants... and let's not forget, those bathrooms!
Changi average. Nothing special Heathrow super clean Densapar ghetto Bangkok the worst. Hell on earth. Narita good shopping and there's a bomb ass sushi place.
The Al Safwa first class lounge in Doha is incredible. I've spent 8+ hours there on multiple occasions and it's fantastic. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rijQQ7U57C8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
which bangkok airport? the main one suvarnabhumi isn't that bad, certainly better than most US/EU airports.......and i actually find narita old and outdated, and way too far from town :grin worst airport i've probably been to.....zanzibar :X
I think Newark is the worst airport I've ever been in. It's worse even than Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras with its $38 departure tax.
The only one mentioned in this thread I have not been to is YVR. Noteworthy ones I remember are e.g. IPC, LRV, MLE, UIO (old), HKG (old).
I love airports. I love being in them and I get excited when I get to visit or transfer through an airport I've never visited. And I especially love airports with lots of unusual international flights, LAX, JFK, MIA, LHR, NRT, BKK, etc. I can even have a good time at a small airport served by a dozen daily flights.
i went and couldn't see anything because it rained. it rained both arriving and departing, and for the 3 days in between as well..
Vancouver the city is awesome. The airport is nothing special. The most interesting Canadian airport to me is Toronto, by far. It always sort of reminds me of ORD. But Toronto always sort of reminds me of Chicago. The Denver airport is pretty cool. I got to sit in 1A of a new UAL 78 not too long ago going from IAH to DEN and back. That did not suck even if it was United.
I just checked.. BKK which is suvarnabhumi but the pictures on Google is nothing as I remembered it. I must've been passing thru some area that wasn't updated at all. I was just their 2 months ago. You're right Narita is very old and outdated I almlst forgot about that part because the food, shopping and people watching distracted me.
Changi is supposed to be the worlds best airport. Apparently has a ton of amenities. Never been there though. If I had one it'd be Haneda. The only reason being that Narita is so much farther from Tokyo.
