I'd say he is the favorite. Young and a better leg than Novak.... surely would give us more touchbacks.
20 biggest bargains from the draft: http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/nfl-draft-bargains-best-buy-laremy-tunsil-jaylon-smith-myles-jack-braxton-miller-050116
Ya the Texans haven't invested a whole lot in the DL as of late, even though we kinda did in Nix. Hope it doesn't come back to bite us, Reader made me feel a lot better about the draft but still would have liked to have seen another defensive pick for the front 7.
Don't forget we signed Devon Still, who was a second rounder and hasn't gotten to fully concentrate on football as a pro because of his daughter's illness. But at Penn he was a wrecking ball of a d lineman. I'm guessing they have more confidence in Still and Convington that we though
Definitely. He wanted to come back last year but just wasn't ready. He's had a year to put on weight and get in shape while he's been in remission. He should be a competent back up if he makes the team.
I don't have a lot of confidence in Still. The bengals had so many reasons to keep him on for PR reasons and they still let him go. He just hasn't been able to produce in the pros.
Random discussion, we could make a new thread about it if it is a big enough one... Who do we think will be the biggest draft bust? for any team. This is by where they were picked too, and time will tell who was right.
Im not worried about the DLine yet...there will be a bunch of players being released before camp...and we have the cap money to sign any that can help our team. For example, if we were worried about OG, Slauson just got released from the Bears. Just throwing out an example...there will be decent talent that will be made available in the near future.
Sign him. Let Cushing break his knees into pieces & release him. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...-slauson-fined-10k-for-block-on-brian-cushing
He didn't want to stay though, he wanted to go to a team in a city with better cancer facilities for his daughter. He made it clear to them that he didn't care about football over his daughter and that he wouldn't be putting in the time and that he wanted to be released.
Fun, fun, fun.

talkin w Bill O'Brien using a new concept ''Edge Position" Braxton Miller&Tyler Ervin are candidates because they both can handle 3+ roles
— Pat Kirwan (@PatKirwanCBS) May 2, 2016

Waiting for SiriusXM NFL Radio to put the interview online, but O'Brien went on for a 15 minute segment to talk the draft. Just as we expected, he mentioned that all of the receivers in his offense are expected to play different roles. He wants a diverse collection of skillsets so that he can gameplan for specific weaknesses in certain defenses. It really helps to explain his thinking on the pick, and it helps to explain why they weren't really considering Treadwell or Doctson over Fuller because they both already fill the same role that Nuk and Strong do. Also, he mentioned that Ervin was drafted to play a new position they are creating called "Edge", which is a hybrid slot receiver/running back. Their goal with him is to get him the ball in space by any means necessary, which is likely why they chose him over Booker because he would fill that specific role much better than Booker. He will also help on special teams, obviously. I'm glad O'Brien once again demonstrated that he at least has a plan for these guys.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/seattle-s...5/NFL-Now-Percy-Harvin-commands-the-jet-sweep http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...rson-percy-harvin-illustrate-jet-sweeps-power I'm getting more and more convinced that they are going to run a million jet sweeps and decoy jet sweeps and jet sweep options and maybe even jet sweeps with a passing option like a college team.
Think of the slotback in the Navy triple option. Specifically the type of pre-snap motion of #26 in the video below. Run them as the pitch man in the option. Run a receiving route, and I guess potentially take a pitch and throw a pass? Also, the QB could roll out and use the slot back as a blocker? A big part is using the motion guy as a decoy with a fake hand off, too. Not sure exactly which roles he's specifically talking about, but you can do a ton of things out of that slotback motion running around behind the QB just as the ball is snapped. They start from where a tailback starts, but they're running with a full head of steam before the ball is snapped. Probably will be an NFL adapted version of something like this where the QB isn't expected to run and isn't exposed as much as in college football. Also, with only one slotback or "edge", not two like Navy uses for the flexbone, and the receivers not pinched up against the o line like Navy does.
