It's just an obvious statement, I'm not sure what I can do to help you out if you can't follow it. Houston allows Durant the chance to be "the guy" next to one of the top guys in the NBA that he already has chemistry with and is friends with, they also can bring in an additional max FA AND he can have a say in who they pick as their new coach. That's a pretty sweet offer. For example, you put Harden, Durant, and Horford together, you don't think that team is in a good position to win? If not, I truly can't help you.
My two cents. But I think the Rockets need to get the coach first. The coach and their system has to be 1 key to recruiting KD. Playing with friend Harden and another max FA in Horford the other. Last year LMA raved about the Rockets presentation and I am sure Morey will have something in place for KD.
If by some magical way we get KD, and he wants Horford, by all means get Horford, but I'd rather pair KD with Whiteside, Whiteside will be 5 mill cheaper, younger/healthier, much bigger defensive and rebounding presence. I mean, how much offense would we need with Harden and KD? Lol
Fair enough. The way i see it, i still think that adding Durant is a good move, but for the Warriors especially, there you're basically switch Durant for Barnes at possibly the same salary if someone is goin to pay Barnes...so yeah, Durant > Barnes in every system/situation imo. For the Spurs eh...it's little more difficult cause the Spurs cause like i said they'll have to clear the bench, trade Green...Spurs always like to play a lot of guys in regular season to keep their best players fresh, so i'm not sure they're ok with cutting half of the team to just add Durant which is great but yeah, maybe not that perfect fit for them -> like Pau is -> especially if Duncan will retire. And yeah, i think that if he comes here he'll be on par with James, if he goes to the Spurs ok, one of the three/four guys, if he goes to the Warriors he'll always be the shadow of Curry, that's actually the main if not only reason why i think he'll not go there. I also agree on Westbrook, he's a beast, but imo Harden is definitely the guy you want to have next to you between the two, he's just a smarter and yes, even more versatile player than Wes, and i think Durant knows. The thing about Westbrook imo, is that in fact he can't be your number 2 or 3 etc...the way he plays, he needs to be your number 1. Harden on the other hand can absolutely switch by being first and second option, that's why i always thought OKC did a mistake trading Harden and not Westbrook, i just don't see Durant and Wes playing well together, it's always like "now it's my turn, you just watch...now it's my turn" and on... Spoiler Fingers crossed
1) This isn't true. Many considered us candidates the entire time. 2) Entirely different scenarios. ENTIRELY. Insane to think otherwise.
Just like many consider us candidates for Durant.... You always had people saying that it'll never happen when it came to Howard just like you have the same type of people saying that it'll never happen when it comes to Durant. Pessimists are always going to be pessimistic. There's a solid case for Durant in Houston, there was a solid case for Howard in Houston.
Honestly if these two things happen. 1.) Durant sees OKC window as closed. 2.) Durant doesn't want to coat tail ride. Then where else is he going? People are quick to point out Portland, Utah, these other teams but none of those teams have a guy on their team that can be an MVP candidate. Both solid young teams, but their star players are more all-star caliber players. Lillard and Hayward have little on Harden. Also factor in that Harden and Durant have a strong friendship you add that in with the potential of another Max. People say "Why would he play for this horrible team?" well that's because if you get rid of Dwight, add Durant and another all-star caliber player and get good coaching then it's not him signing on to a terrible team.
That's what i don't get, a lot of people keep saying this, but this team is goin to be way different Spoiler unless Morey was serious about keep this and keeping that... so yeah...
I think it's probably just fans "thinking" with their emotions too soon after a disappointing season and a disappointing playoff series. If they were doing real thinking and doing so logically, they'd come to a different conclusion.
Even in the best case scenario(Durant, 2nd max, good coach), they're right where OKC is right now: behind GS & SAS.
I disagree. Great coaching does a ton for teams. If you get a legit big three and good coaching it does a ton for teams. If the coach can create that culture of unity AND you add 3 superstars to that you are going to be right there with any team. The Warriors and Spurs aren't invincible.
Ibaka is a role player, Horford is a player that has had a team built around him and has taken said team deep in the playoffs a few times now. His stats aren't flashy, he's not very flashy, but he's very effective. Ibaka is a role player, a REALLY good one but still...
