JVG por favor. Popovich's team over Stephen Curry's team. Defensive-minded, controlling offense will win more Larry O' Briens over instant offense. Let JVG stay home. I like to see Houstonian win for Houstonians.
I am 50:50 on JVG or Messina. I am a big fan of JVG (has a system, focuses on defense, local guy, smart) but I can also see the upside of bring a respected assistant under Pop over here. Messina seems sharp, dedicated, motivated and would bring a different approach. I was all-in for JVG previously... but swaying towards Messina. But either would make me happy.
So, Walton is now off the table, as is Thibs and Brooks. Have Les and Morey even started interviewing yet? The only thing I've heard is that they wanted to interview Walton and that Les apparently really likes JVG. Unless they have already reached some verbal agreement with JVG, what are they waiting for?
"Cassell was hired by the Los Angeles Clippers on September 29, 2014 to join Doc Rivers' staff as assistant coach." Gotta wait on the Clippers to be eliminated to Talk to ole SAM I AM!!! Rocket River
And that team is in for a tumultuous offseason. Cassell would be more than happy to bail on that situation for a head coaching gig.
I scratch my head when Sam I Am (or in cast, Elie) would get lots of interest. But I do see why SAN people attract interest... winning organization, always well-coached, and always seem to be able to exploit the rules. That said, it looks like Messina wouldn't be interested in us (re: Feigen). <- ignore Correction... Feigen was referring to some of the college coaches like Izzo not having any interest. But he has Ollie on the list.
my hopes are: JVG, messina, boylen, ollie, mcmillan i'm worried that les' list is: boylen, sampson, hornacek, jbb
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KcCuXT1q0Vw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The more I read about Ettore Messina, the more I like him. -He runs an offence based on ball and player movement (a read and react offence like the triangle/princeton). -He values the post game -He doesn't have an ego and doesn't mind being a assistant coach after years as a head coach (Blatt) and he continues to learn the game. -He is thought of as a strict coach which is something this team is lacking -He learned the NBA defense from 2 great defensive minded coaches (Brown and Pop) Messina>JVG
Even with an offensive system, I do not think he is has the interpersonal skills to get the most out of Harden. I do not think Jeff Van Gundy would be a horrible for the Rockets. I just do not think he is going to be that coach to take them over the top. Now I could be wrong, because all I got the judge by is his previous tenure with the team, where offense was not his only issue as coach. I think being patient, maybe even trying to get an interview with Kevin Ollie might be the wise thing to do for Morey at this point in time.
Yeah, however I do not see a man like this clicking with a dick like Leslie. He's too smart, like Adelman.
Everyone talks about these dudes like they are all actually wanting this job, whereas I'm not sure if any of these guys want what this job fully entails with DMulligan and Leslie. Have a feeling we end up with JVG or a much lower tier candidate.
