No, putting him in was not "fine"... At no point has Giles demonstrated any ability to handle pressure situations. This team NEEDS to win games, to hell w trying to get Giles right. The time to put Giles in was when we were getting shalacked by the Mariners but for whatever reason Hinch thought better and threw a position player to lob toss ups. We played a damn fine game and Hinch ruined it in 1/3 of an inning.
