Really? He's 6'10 240lbs. That's Taller and as heavy as rookie LeBron. He's well built and maybe just slightly less muscular than rookie LeBron. His wingpsan is only an inch and a half shorter than LeBrons but he's 2 inches taller than LeBron, giving him a higher standing reach. Only difference from rookie LeBron is that LeBron had a huge vertical and super fast straight line speed. Simmons is an average leaper, but he's still very quick at his size with the handles. So even though he doesn't have the elite bullet speed of LeBron, he's probably just as quick as LeBron laterally. It's LeBron's ability to maintain his elite athleticism as he's gotten bigger and bigger throughout his career that separates him from many past, current and future prospects. He's one of the greatest athletes ever. So, while i don't see Ben Simmons jumping to 260+ and running up and down fast breaks, i do see him adding another 10lbs and still being faster than every PF out there and other bigger or older SF's.
Simmons sucks. My Coogs beat him down. He is a big bucket of meh. Overrated man. People see 1 big outlet pass and act like he is the next Magic. That's what got people in trouble on Royce White. I don't see Ben Simmons ever being a franchise center piece type of player. He's a dud on that level of expectation. He can't shoot either. Doesn't matter if you're the best at excercising, you have to be great at basketball.
The numbers you have for simmons wingspan arent true. Lsu is notorious for lying about their players. Before he went there it was widely known he didnt have a good wingspan. Anyway as I said a lot will depend on what is the rest of the roster. Nba ball dominant pgs will not be so keen on allowing a rookie who cant shoot to handle the ball much if he cant at least be elite at driving. Meanwhile he will be destroying teams spacing and the other team will be packing the paibt making it even harder for him and the rest of the players. I say this as a Bucks fan. Pgs will not let go of the ball even if the coach says it unless they see it with their own eyes. To have a point forward as a primary playmaker isnt easy to be accepted by a team. Esp with a ball dominant guard.
This is in five years. Curry will be 32. Westbrook will have slowed down and his game relies on his athleticism. Lilliard will stay outside the top 5. Wall will have never developed more skills, similar to Westbrook. Irving would stay injury probe.
Interesting that Wiggins has been mentioned several times. Very inefficient, can't shoot the 3, can't pass at all and has been one of the worst defensive players in the entire league and has a PER of 16.5. What's the appeal? Based off his reputation coming out of HS? Supposedly ready to be a defensive stopper from day 1? That was all great hype but defensively he makes Harden look like Scottie Pippen.
Well..if he cant learn defence and give consistent effort under Thibs then he will even lose playing time he and Lavine. He has the tools to do it. Just not the midset. Under Thibs there is hope. But for passing and rebounding etc I dont see it. Shooting a 21 y.o can develop. I for one dont think in 5 years he will be better than GA,Kat Kawhi and AD barring injuries.
Curry won't be a top player, but he'll still be very good since he mostly relies on his superb three point shooting. I think Harden will either be in his peak or just slightly out of it in 5 years, much like how Kobe hit his peak in his early thirties. Same with Durant. Aside from that I'd say: Wiggins Drummond KAT Maybe Porzingis although I haven't seen enough of him really. I think Davis has more or less hit his peak. He's a phenomenal player, but I don't know if he's top 5. IMO it will depend on who else comes into the league. Which leads me to my next point, that the best player in 5 years will probably be someone who's in high school now that we don't know about.
Most players become top5 when they are near around their peak so around 25+. So thats the interesting in this thread. The top5 players in 5 years are most likely already drafted and playing.
