I think you are looking at this a little too hard. You can say Cruz is "not great at all strategically" or you could just say he is a creepy a**hole and leave it at that.
Wait - so you're arguing that he picked a freaking VP primarily just to reset the news cycle? As opposed to, you know, picking a VP to help lead the country? And you think it's a good thing? This is what McCain did with Palin.
I could look at it that way, but it's a lazy perspective that doesn't encompass what a significant portion of the population is thinking. And it's overly simplistic.
So the lefty trolls that infest this forum do not like Cruz or Fiorina. What a surprise. Troll on, fellas. It is who you are. It is what you do. I get it.
Not a lefty. This is possibly the most unlikeable Presidential ticket in American history, though maybe only until Trump picks a running mate.
I'm not trolling. Opinions that don't agree with yours are not automatically trolling. I'm not trying to anger you or deflect the conversation (i.e. not trolling). Do you really think Carly F. is an excellent choice to have a heartbeat away from the presidency? I actually do know a great number of HP employees in the SF Bay Area, and I'm conveying that none of them, including some rather wealthy and conservative people among them, would want to vote for her. What do you see as her qualifications for being Vice President of the United States? And don't you think it's an odd choice for a candidate to chose a VP this far ahead of a convention, where one normally gets advice and hears multiple voices from across the party?
I saw the rumor was that he would name Carly his VP (despite being behind Trump) but didn't think it was true. However, I should have known that it was. Lately VPs are picked entirely because they can appeal to a demographic that the main candidate does not. Biden with Obama, Palin with McCain, and now Carly with Cruz. Wish we could go back to the days of the losing nominee becoming the VP!
Awwwwww... Some one call the Dude...it was nothing more than a move out of complete and utter desperation. If he was leading and had a shot at the nomination, Fiorina would remain unemployed and likely wouldn't have been considered at all.
So this is all ya got. Just call anyone who thinks Cruz was an idiot for announcing Fiorina a "lefty troll". You are the worst kind of sheep. People like you would jump off a cliff for their hero. I guess for true worshippers, Cruz can do no wrong.
I am a former HP employee and I can assure you almost everyone that worked at HP hates her. She was a horrible CEO that insulated herself with "yes people". Legacy employees were misled into pay cuts and freezes to avoid layoffs which then quickly enacted. She made astoundingly horrible business decisions eg. getting bent over by Apple on the hp ipod deal (led by Allison Johnson, one of those "yes people" (btw, when carly was jettisoned AJ went immediately to (you guessed it) Apple). She sidestepped the Iran embargo selling millions of dollars of equipment (then claiming it was through a local seller). Her time at HP was known for huge layoffs and company vale loss. She would attend employee meetings and other company meetings where she was actually boo'd. Even at Lucent she started the collapse of that company via a shady deal of loaning money to customers, loans that were counted as revenue and as assets. She brags about saving 80,000 jobs at HP... which can only be attributed to the remaining employees that weren't the 30,000 plus she cut.
One difference with the Obama selection of Biden. Obama was seen as inexperienced... Biden was seen as someone with lots of experience (working with congress, with domestic and especially foreign relations). Cruz is also seen as inexperienced, with only one term in the Senate. he has very poor relationships inside Washington and virtually no experience re foreign affairs. But instead of choosing someone that can add experience he doubles down on inexperience. So in doing so he makes an even worst selection than John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin. Which took some doing...
Well, the latest "troll" is John Boehner. "I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a b**** in my life... lucifer in the flesh." ouch (ABC News link covering comments of former house speaker made at Stanford University.)
I suppose. So you do not think that perhaps if he were perhaps white, less of a creep factor "more charming" didn't have a pot belly etc. etc. etc. (looked more like Paul Ryan for example) but said all of the same exact things. That he would not have did better and this would be a different race at this point? In my opinion him being a "creepy a**hole" was a HUGE factor. As an aside out of 1,000 + friends that I have on facebook that have let their support be known for Cruz (although not much out of them these days about him) are not the sharpest tools in the shed. These are just randoms I know from high school. But they are not people I would go to for advice.
