How does Ortg more accurately measure individual offensive performance than say PER, OWS, ORPM, OBPM?
There are two things you're showing me today: 1. You are a master at CTRL+C and CTRL+V 2. You didn't even bother to look at the numbers you're defending: Among all players with a usage rating of over 30% this past year, Harden ranked 5th among the 10 players that achieved that 30%+ mark. 1. Curry 124.7 2. KD 121.7 3. LeBron 116.5 4. Westbrook 115.4 5. Harden 115.0 6. Lillard 113.1 7. PG13 106.5 8. Wade 103.4 9. Cousins 103 10. Kobe 95.7 So where is Harden ranked in usage % again? 3rd.
Notes: In a later chapter of Basketball on Paper, Oliver emphasized that Offensive Ratings shouldn't be viewed in a vacuum. Introducing a concept he called "Skill Curves", he acknowledged that a player's ORtg needed to be judged in conjunction with his Usage Rate, a measure of how big a role the player fills in his team's offense. The bigger the role, the more difficult it is to maintain a high ORtg; the smaller the role, the easier it is to be highly efficient. Because of this, Oliver stressed that a player's ORtg should primarily be compared to those of other players in a similar role.
"Running the offense".... Exactly what offense was he supposed be running? He's literally the only plus offensive player out there. His #2 option is to throw it to dwight who wanted to be treated like a quality post player except he has ZERO POST GAME. other than that he had bev, ariza or the oft-injured dmo. I'm not sure why you're having difficulty grasping the possibility that playing as damn near the only legitimate option and alongside a player in dwight who has shown no willingness to improve his game could absolutely torpedo the whole operation.
Barkley just said the same thing I did, that he would not want to play with Harden, no one wants to watch him dribble dribble dribble - that it screws up other players rhythm. Some of you need to listen to a hall of famer - while he is funny, he is also right. DD
Right, Dmo isn't trash. Forgot about the Dmo only fanclub Question: Ariza- Trash. Someone voted this dude for Defensive player of the year!! TJones- Trash Dwight- Trash Bev- Utter Trash. Defensive stopper? He got torched by Ian Clark and Livingston I won't even talk about the bench and SEWER, CRAP!!! This team is horrible. No wonder the players gave Harden the MVP last year. All the NBA Players knew the Rockets were trash last year. We finally found out everyone on this team is trash except Harden and Dmo
Yea because we didn't get the same experience with Barkley when all he did was back his ****** down low for 20 seconds. Our other players got no rhythm to begin with. Howard can't dribble or catch a pass to save his life, Ariza is no longer useful for the one thing he was brought in to do on offense (corner 3s), Bev is as erratic as can be, etc.
There aren't that many guys with over 30 usage, so being 5th among them isn't that impressive. Drop it to 25. Hardens 115 ORtg is the lowest since his rookie year. He had high usage the last two years and higher ortgs. The point is he played worse this year. Hence, no MVP votes.
Yes, the team stat is how many points the team scores per 100 possessions. The individual offensive rating is how many points the team scores per 100 possessions that an individual player is on the floor. They are two different stats but they are both based on team performance. The individual stat is points per possession. If the stat was as you're thinking it is then a players rating would just be their PPP multiplied by 100. Go pick any player and take their ppp and multiply by 100 and you'll see that the number doesn't match their offensive rating. Did you notice how small the spread is in the offensive rating is for all of our starters? That's because it's a team stat and those guys are generally on the floor together. Do you really think that everyone of our starters are individually within 3 points of each other over 100 possessions? Use common sense, Harden's TS% is right at 60% and you're going to tell me that over 100 possessions that he's only going to score 5 points more than Corey Brewer?
All you can do is talk shiet. You can't back up anything you say little child. Quite sad. Now go on.... keep repeating your ignorance about 3 point shooting
They want... They will say that Chuck is hating on the Rockets again... The sad part about all of this is that the org is going to let Harden have a say so on the next coach... Like letting the Inmate run the Prison.. Makes no freaking sense what so ever. The next 3 years are going to be very interesting and not in a good way. T_Man
Also, would just like to add that a lot of you really **** up my DD on Ignore function. And I don't appreciate that.
That's actually how I'd rank my top 5 in the league, except i'd switch KD and Lebron's places. Although if Leonard improves he'd probably crack the list.
James Harden this season : PER 9th OWS 3rd OBPM 4th ORPM 6th Remind me, how is Ortg more accurate in measuring individual offensive performance that all of above stats, when we know team stats are involved in calculating Ortg?
Brewers ORtg is 98. Hardens is 115. That's a huge gap. I don't know what else to say on the subject. Individual ortg gets used to measure individuals all the time. It was created to measure individuals. The creator said exactly that and stat people use it that way. There's both an individual and a team ORtg, they are different for a reason, they measure different things
