Are you guys stating that you believe Trump has the nomination won, hands down, case closed? Is it truly and irretrievably "over" in your view? Man up and say so, if you really believe that.
Maybe? Who knows? Who cares? Each one gets beaten by Granny Hill badly. The death of a zillion cuts to Cruz and his proxies is a million times more entertaining. Stay strong, MojoMan - never give up.
i believe that bickerstaff is finally breathing a sigh of relief since last nite's identification of a texas resident who astonishingly knows even less bball than he does
Stay tuned... he makes a "MAJOR NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT!" at 3pm today. Rumors are he announces his VP choice.... ... Carly. LOL.
It would be better for America honestly for Cruz to win the nomination and then lose the general. Him not getting the nomination and Trump losing the general just means that the Cruz type of conservative will keep up the narrative that the Republicans aren't winning because they aren't nominating someone conservative enough. The Republican party cannot start to re-calibrate until they rid themselves of this anchor.
I think everybody is sounding far too sure of what's going to happen in the Republican race. I would say: * It's still a close thing whether Trump gets the 1,237. He might and he might not. Obviously, if he gets it, then game over. * If it goes to the convention, Trump does have an advantage of being very close to the 1,237 he needs. It is possible that he can keep most of his contingent together and grab the handful extra he needs to make it on a second ballot. * It is also quite possible, however, that too many delegates pledged to him will defect asap and he'll get screwed. The more ballots they go through in the convention, the more likely it is that Cruz will win the nomination in the end. I don't think Mojo is wrong, nor is 3po. I do think they both sound more confident than they have any business being. I suppose someone will end up vindicated. I do feel pretty confident that either one would come out of a contested convention wounded, and that may be enough to guarantee a Democrat victory.
It's not a lock at all, but it's a high probability now. -If he wins Indiana, and the polls are changing there to where now he is leading, it's over barring a collapse in California. -Without Indiana, he just needs to over perform a little and he'll either hit the 1237 OR he'll be so close that if he courts a handful of the unbound delegates on the first ballot he'll cross. Remember, there are unbound ones available on the FIRST ballot as well. He won't need all of them, but he'll probably be close enough that if he can get 30 of them he'll win. 538 put out a piece that suggests that Trump's momentum is being helped by the fact that a lot of anti-Trump voters are seeing it as inevitable and are thus not going to the polls in the primary. Him winning 50-60% of the votes in the last 6 elections is pretty defeating for anti Trump voters. The whole "only 30% of voters back Trump!" narrative is dead. In a three man race (and in some states its only really a 2 man race) he is eclipsing 50% now. His overall polling is actually rising among Republicans and the vast majority of Republicans polled actually think he should get the nomination, even if they don't support him, because of the votes he has won already. I'm stunned by this, but I think it is VERY likely now that Trump wins the nomination and that there isn't a second ballot.
Trump is maybe the dumbest front-runner of a major party in American history with multiple gaffes daily, and Ted gets bashed for saying ring instead of rim. Jesus.
Carly does not help Cruz. The only move that Cruz makes that may mean something is if he announces John Kasich to be his veep and Kasich promptly drops out of the primary.
That doesn't actually help Cruz because there are Congressional districts that Cruz can't win but Kasich can. He needs Kasich in this race to help block Trump.
I think what makes his gaffe so funny is that he very carefully set up his Indiana appearance to play to the basketball fans in the state... recreates a popular movie scene, has a helper play along, and then completely fumbles it. Honestly, no one confuses Cruz with a basketball person. Heck he was in the school show troupe, where the only swishes he did were the male leads (not that there is anything wrong with that!). But you have to admit it was a funny scene, especially if you see the video and the expression of a nearby woman's face when he blows the line...
