Among all the centers in the league, Dwight is 12th in PPG 4th in RPG 8th in BPG 19th in TS% 17th in PER 37th in RPM 12th in WS 39th in WS/48 38th in BPM 21st in VORP Even on defense Dwight is (among just centers), 38th in DRPM 27th in DBPM He is a below average rim protector (per Nylon Calculus http://nyloncalculus.com/stats/rim-protection/), and below average post-up player (per NBA http://stats.nba.com/league/player/...nType=Regular Season&PerMode=Totals&sort=Poss) And it will get even worse as years go by, as Dwight's body gradually breaks down. If Dallas signs him by overpaying, that would be the greatest thing happening to the Rockets, since it will spell doomsday for the Mavericks for year to come.
He's definitely still top 10. His presents under the goal defensively is still top notch. Don't let the stats fool you
I would probably put him at around #10 He can still block an occasional shot. His defensive skills overall are probably below average at this point. He is routinely a BAD defender more often than not anymore
Dallas can be pretty good with Dwight in the middle and a healthy Parsons. That could be a pretty attractive free agent team once you include Cuban and Carlisle in the mix. My hate for the Mavs is strong but my hate is not blind.
That' what they used to say about Ty Lawson, and now Indiana thinks he's a disaster. Can't wait until the next season to see how Dwight does on another team, 'cause it will not look good.
Easy. DeMarcus Cousins DeAndre Jordan Hassan Whiteside Karl-Anthony Towns Paul Gasol Marc Gasol Al Horford Brook Lopez Andre Drummond Rudy Gobert I can name probably 5 more.
I think all these guys are definitively better than Dwight -Demarcus Cousins -Marc Gasol -Deandre Jordan -Anthony Davis -KA Towns -Andre Drummond -Al Horford -Chris Bosh -Pau Gasol These guys are borderline better or will be better soon -Hassan Whiteside -Brook Lopez -Kristaps Porziņģis (if he counts as a center) -Rudy Gobert -Nikola Jokic -Al Jefferson (if healthy)
voted 1 star. Crapping on Howard on eve of an elimination playoff game. Irrespective of whether or not he is a top 10 C still, OP's thread is full of suck.
So it's okay to proclaim this fact now? Only a couple of months ago I was killed for saying this on this board. If Dwight Howard is, indeed, a Top 10 center then it says more about the decaying crop of big men in the NBA than his place among the "center elite"
Why would you include 3 power forwards? Them occasionally playing center or being out of position doesn't make them centers. Towns and Horford aren't really centers either.
