The hole is getting to be where the Astros won't be able to climb out of it if this continues. I don't have high hopes for this team at this point. The level of play has dropped off considerably from last season from almost every player.
My friend, just for the record with cincy he has a 3.50 era and a whip of 1.00 My friend, those nunbers I wished all of our starter would have so far this year, actually, if we had those numbered astros would be playing better than .500
Ok, you don't mind playing white at the moment and hitting 5th instead of a guy that IS hitting, ok that is your opinion but I made that statement for 2 games now and you know what, I've been right so far. Maybe you don't like me but you can't say I am wrong, right now our worse hotter is white, he is struggling. Ibrrustbhe will get out of the funk buy meanwhile, use the hot bats
They're not selling out a lot of games. The Red Sox game on Sunday (usually a big series draw) was half empty. They're running a promotion in May to where you can go to all the weekday home games for $50 (10 games). Baseball still has a long way to go to getting back to where it was here in the early 2000's.
P.I.T.C.H.I.N.G The starters and Giles have been beyond garbage. Keuchel hasn't even been good. Baserunning and errors have hurt as well. RISP has been bad. Team has been horrible besides a couple good weeks by a few hitters.
Ah yes, the answer to our pitching was Dan Straily all along. Our organization just isn't as smart as Cincy and couldn't see it. Wonder if we could get him back if we offered Giles? Na, Cincy is smarter than that they would never take a struggling pitcher with a high whip for a stud like Straily
You lied about the numbers of Marwin yesterday to make it look like you are smart, Marwin has been far from great. We all know that you hate Hinch and you think you could form the perfect lineup everyday, that much you have made a great job of being clear about
I still think we're a good team that can't get out of its own way. if not careful, the season can snowball into catastrophe. snap out of it.
That's the problem you don't get out of "the funk" by watching other guys play while you sit on the bench. In baseball , and especially for a young hitter, you have to have at bats to work out of it. Putting White on the bench while the "hot bat" plays everyday will do nothing for him. Sit him for a day here are there, maybe, but long term he has to play if you think he is your first baseman (and I believe the Astros have said this much already). As for like you, I don't even know you. What rubs me the wrong way (and I am sure I am not alone) is how where players are concerned your posts are bipolar in nature. When a player is playing great, you are ready to anoint them King, and after a couple of bad games you are ready to have them executed. Baseball doesn't work that way. It is a long 162 game season and you have to have some consistency in the moves you make and with your player base. It is obvious you don't like Hinch, but if the team were to fire him and hire you, they would never have to get rid you. The players would take care of that for them. After about 10 days of chaotic moves they'd all quit. IN baseball, you can't say "well, Tyler White has had a couple of bad games let's bench him for Marwin". What happens when Marwin goes hitless for a few games? Do you bench him and bring up somebody? With you we probably cut him and sign the first baseman from the Skeeters because he went 3-4 with 2 doubles last night (this is hyperbole, I have no idea who the skeeters first baseman is and I don't think they are even playing yet). You have to be patient and see if guys work out of it. How long do you give them, it depends on the guy. Better caliber players get more chances, it's just how it works. Look at Chris Carter. That guy got a ton of chances, it never worked out so they benched then cut him. He is still getting chances in Milwaukee. The point is they didn't just give him 2 weeks and say, sorry you aren't working out, hit the bricks. Why me and the others here get annoyed is because you post a lot (a lot) about baseball games, but it seems like you have no clue about actual baseball. I'm sorry if this offends, but this is a combination of all those previous posts that said "deleted. Add to that I'm a bit snippy today and just didn't give af about hitting the delete button this time.
The thing that gets me the most is its not just one or two players or one aspect of the game. We have gone from promising to bad in EVERY aspect of the game. If someone had gone out of their way and planned to do this to us, they could not have done better. If every other team in league conspired together and group shared all their data on every player of ours and determined how to defeat each one its hard to imagine things being worse than they are.
Starting pitching/ERA has gone from best... to worst. They are the worst team at hitting with RISP. If you can't stop them from scoring... and you can't drive in runs when the opportunities present themselves... you're going to lose more games than you win. The only saving grace is that things literally cannot possibly get worse for both aspects, and there is time to dig out of this hole... but they have to start playing consistently and have to start playing better in every aspect.
I think one of the things we did well last season was pitched well at home. This season...can't count on that...and we are losing more games at home. I think the pitchers have put the batters in such a tough spot...that the batters now have mental block because they start out in a position of having to make up runs from a deficit. And, their inexperience is feeding into it.
They've lost six of seven, have the worst record in the AL... and if they beat Seattle these next two games, they'll be within 2.5 of first place. It's been a remarkably bad start - but any hint that the season is over, or even close to being over, is wildly premature. They play Seattle six times in the next 12 days.
They've won every player of the week award... first time ever! The Rockets are one of 10 teams to beat the Warriors this year. That's the only top 10 list they're going to make, so enjoy it! The Rams and Eagles just unloaded their futures for potential QB's that may or may not be better than Brian Hoyer... while Tom Brady is going to be suspended for the first 4 games for the most asinine offense in sports history. Suddenly, the Texans have an enviable QB situation amongst the league!
