The only complaint I have of the episode is that it effed us out of about seven or eight minutes.

Granted, the recap for Episode 1 is always longer. But HBO gave us, what?, three or four minutes of previews for other shows (knowing we were always snug into our couches, lotion and Kleenex to one side, waiting for our favorite show to recommence ["and now, the return of the HBO original series, 'Game of Nerds'"])....

I don't mind so much about what happened to the Dorne storyline (especially if we get some more gratuitous nudity from Sand Snakes.....Obara notwithstanding; is that wrong?). It wasn't a bad way to telescope it, given that the producers say there are only 10 or 15 episodes left after this season. I feel they'll be telescoping far more than just Dorne.

I do wonder about Jaime's future now that his heart has hardened, which might lead him to act rather rashly, but this show has its ways of surprising us.

Big question mark on Meereen and whether certain ships might sail into Slaver's Bay, but given the cover art (real or supposed) that I find when I Google Winds of Winter, I think that might still come into play.

Um, maybe they took another, faster ship....you know, one that can make 30 knots or even faster, or perhaps a drug smuggler's boat bought at a DEA auction....and raced to catch up.....and they timed the execution perfectly, mind you.

Oh, Trystane. Now I know why your candy-a$$ Disneyland costume replaced Arianne Martell last year.

I'm thinking that, too. They just caught up with him once he got to King's Landing. Not sure they'd be able to stowaway on a sail that long, especially with Jaime on board.

The idea that they took a faster ship and just trailed behind with no one noticing and then slipped into the Royal Harbor at King's Landing is ridiculous.

you realize the irony of this post in a discussion of a show with dragons, ice demons and shadow babies...

No but it drives me nuts when people say things like this.

The show operates in a universe with its own rules. Their universe has dragons, it doesn't mean that they have teleporters.

I mean, they are assassins. So speed and stealth are their thing. Just saying it could be an explanation as opposed to stowing away on the same boat with someone who has every motive to hunt them down.

they've established the sand snakes as highly trained killers/assassins. an aptitude to slip in and out of places un-detected didn't strike me as unreasonable.

the faceless men have been established, who is to say other methods of disguise or cloaking are beyond reason?

I feel like you have to just ignore the element of time... a bit. And this is from previous seasons as well. Because we know different storylines take place in different time frames, etc.

I mean you have months passing in one storyline, yet in the Jon storyline you are talking about less than a day has passed.

All of which makes it a bit difficult to figure out what actions are going on simultaneously throughout the different regions. But it is what it is, enjoy the storylines independently and hope that when they cross there aren't glaring plot issues.

The dogs/hounds issue here is bigger than the seeming time issue ones. And even that is just nitpicking a bit... in the moment it was still great. But clearly, the hounds just disappearing randomly is a plot hole.

Pretty sure in that bath scene they also established that there are potions for deceiving people's eyes. Then on last night episode they spent a couple of seconds on the potions in the room.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Sure, you can point to little plot holes here or there but this seems like a pretty obscure issue to have.

Like others have said, they could have taken a faster ship. How did they get on board? they could have got on at night. It's dark and torches don't give you much help for seeing into the ocean. Or maybe they got close and seeing that they were chicks the men didn't think much of it. Maybe they pretended to be in distress...or just showed their boobies.

This confused me as well. Jamie specifically said they were taking the Prince with them to King's Landing. But by the look of the scene and the way it played out, it seemed that he was still in Dorne.. ?? I guess it doesn't really matter - he was clearly too stupid to live, no matter where he was. Turn your back on someone who is there specifically to kill you? Dee you emm BEE.

Jeez, I even tried to make my post as sarcastic as possible (buying a speedboat at auction from the Drug Enforcement Agency?) but someone took it seriously.

    *sigh*

No, it's just one of those plot holes we're supposed to ignore. I do wish they'd dispatched the dogs, however, instead of leaving it to wonder, although all the dog lovers out there would stop watching the show. It would have been better for them to mow down the dogs instead of let them go back to Winterfell and tell the whole story:

"Hey, Reaver! Where you been, boy?"

    RUFF! RUFF!

    "You say they got away?"

    GROWL SNARL RUFF RUFF!

"Because a big blonde ugly woman showed up to save them?"

    ARF! AaaaAARF!

The Prince was on the ship with Jaime, but he waited on the ship while Jaime took a scow into the shallower waters of the cove with Myrcella. How Nymeria and Obara got onto the ship is another question.

I agree that this was a plot hole/mistake by the show.

Perhaps they were aided by the men on the ship. Clearly the Dornish Guards did not care about their king, and they may have aided them in getting onto the ship.

When watching live, I assumed they must have still been in Dorne, but re-watching, he is definitely on the ship in the harbor at Kings Landing, as they showed the ship at the beginning of the scene, and the room is that of a ship. He is even painting eyes on stones that figure to be placed on Myrcella's eyes at her funeral.

Figured somebody would nitpick about how the assassins got on the boat.

I was actually surprised that Cersei didn't realize Myrcella was already dead... with the perceived ease as to how news travels around the kingdoms (via magical/speedy ravens, word of mouth, or twitter), you'd think it would have already been broadcasted to be common knowledge. (and right on cue, Dorne got the convenient message that Myrcella had died, right around the same time that Tristane was about to die).

In the end, this is a TV show... with rules bended/broken to make it convenient to advance the narrative for the tv watcher.

When you are talking about boats traveling via wind power, the speeds they travel vary greatly. A faster ship could have easily overtaken them or been a few hours behind.

A couple of things on that:

    1) Perhaps Jaime wanted to tell Cersei in person (My assumption)
    2) Who knows how many Ravens they have on a boat (which is how news gets places so quickly, even though it does travel too quickly most of the time)
    3) The scenes don't have to be in chronological order.
