The team since Smith has been here has hit in the first round almost every year and missed in later rounds, basically you want them to get rid of a pick they are likely to hit on for more picks where they are likely to miss. I just can't get behind that.
Walter football draft rumor from April 19th: Everybody is projecting the Texans to take a wide receiver in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. I strongly believe that Houston's preference is for Notre Dame's Will Fuller. The Texans' backup plan is Baylor's Corey Coleman. After that, TCU's Josh Doctson could be in play. Ole Miss' Laquon Treadwell would also be a candidate, but he has a higher chance to be off the board by pick 22. Read more at http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftrumormill.php#8zQ0HPc2MDvFRfHd.99
NFL.com mock drafts all have us taking a WR or Hunter Henry in rd 1 http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/mock-drafts?icampaign=draft-sub_nav_bar-drafteventpage-mockdraft
Haha so basically any of the top four receivers could be in play for the Texans at 22? Ground breaking rumor there, Walt...
I don't mind if we go another direction at 22 BUT if we get a WR it needs to be Coleman, Fuller or Doctson in that order. I don't know why you think Shepard if the consensus, he certainly is not and I for one don't want him on the team at all:
it seems like the WR class isn't talented enough to take in 1st rd would prefer Hunter Henry, or OL/DL, positions where the talent seems to be more top heavy and won't be worth taking in later rounds
You mean to say the WR class is so strong you might not need to take one in the 1st. The TE class is so bad that if Henry is off the board, you might as well not take one at all.
I mean the consensus that Shepard is better than Fuller. Fuller's just a speed guy. There's an article on SB Nation of Will Fuller; it's titled "Fuller's fast...and that's it." Rick Smith thinks this is a strong WR class; I think he takes one
Someone will need to jump the Jets at 20 if they want a sure shot at Lynch. Not sure he makes it pass them otherwise.
A WR would be ok because it is a need, but I tend to lean towards going with DL or OL to sure things up front.
This is from the link that the SB Nation guy you quoted got his information. The guy just doesn't like Fuller and needs to sell his story. Remember this is where he used the information for his story. http://draftbreakdown.com/players/will-fuller/#player-report At least read the summary. If you dig into the statistics of real analysts you will get a much better picture of a player than reading some hacks OPINION of a player based him selling stories. Not great but certainly better than than article. He scored 19 TDs in his last two year. You don't do that if you cannot catch a football. Even if you like Shepard he is a mediocre slot receiver and we don't need a slot receiver we need someone to stretch the field. ie Coleman or Fuller.
