Rockets issue is so much on one player and a lack of caring about defense though Hard to compare the two sports Easy to be extra frustrated because of the combination though
Hinch is a bad manager, really bad. There is poor base running rampant, no discipline or awareness on the field or in the box. The line ups are garbage. He doesn't pinch hit at the right times and has no sense of urgency. Having said that, I fail to see how anyone is surprised the Astros cannot do much offensively when 6,7,8,9 in the order is complete garbage. I am starting to reach the conclusion that this isn't going to turn around. The last best hope is McCullers joins the rotation and is light out. However there are just so many issues, from 3rd, DH, base running, situation hitting, pitch selection to a mediocre rotation. It will take some real self discipline and heart to not fold.
No one should have green light on the bases for a while if they can't use any better judgment. Hinch is just letting these morons run wild out there. It's ridiculous.
Yea I think it's clear the organization thinks ultra aggressive on the bases fits the analytics But at some point aggressive and stupid have to meet We are stupid on the bases. Either Hinch needs to answer to it or Pettus or someone
An "Aha" moment. Sadly, more people will be realizing it soon. Tough pill to swallow, and I hope by some miracle we are wrong, but it's hard to imagine. They have holes upon holes. They chose to gamble on trying to win cheaply (salary-wise), and it's backfiring, and it's going to be compounded by the fact that they want to delay the clocks on guys in the minors who could be helping the team now. It's depressing. The future is still bright, but we will never get over the top unless they open up the pocketbooks and pay some stud FA's.
Easy brah, you're starting to sound like you're coming over to the dark side. More butterflies and rainbows.
Ultimately Luhnow and Hinch need to answer for it. Pettis wouldn't keep sending guys if Hinch laid down the hammer... and Luhnow lets Hinch manage with his thumb up his butt. Crain isn't going to tolerate this much longer. Luhnow I am sure is on firm ground but Crain knows baseball very very well and is watching all the areas where coaching matter are failing.
Brian McTaggart @brianmctaggart now2 minutes ago Astros (5.11) and Red Sox (5.65) entered the day with the two worst ERAs by starting pitchers in AL.
Yea it's at the point that it's costing us games that will come back to bite us later Would be interesting to know who's "approach" our baserunning really is
I'm good man I have no problem talking about the bad and the good You don't have to make a "great" or "terrible" stance to talk about your team you know
What is frustrating is that they are very close to being elite. Literally a #1-2 starter and a catcher that is good from being able to win 95 games and overcoming their talent based flaws. The rotation would look far better, the line up with someone like LeCroy becomes 6, deep and 7 deep if they get a manager that doesn't play Gattis all the time.

ha, wait till yall see the triple play the rangers just ran into. our base-running must have rubbed off on them the past 3 days.
what's so crazy about what he said? unless it's the word "elite" you object to. i agree with him that those 2 additions, plus the expected minor league boosts would put us where we need to be.
