There is no USA without the destruction of Native Americans and their destruction has been supported by virtually every President during the expansion era.

If you want to remove Jackson, then you need to take off Washington (owned human beings and ripped teeth out of their head to put in his), Thomas Jefferson and others.

Andrew Jackson was and is an extremely important figure in American history.

Yeah, no. Jackson was the biggest turd.

Nobody's perfect. But to act like they're all equal is silly.

Jackson on a federal reserve note never made sense anyway. Who cares.

I just wish they had a picture of Tubman where she doesn't look so miserable. At least have her with a neutral expression like everyone else who's on our currency.

Debate on Jackson is a foil to the debate on the name of Dowling St, but writ large. It's easy to dump Dowling because there aren't a lot of people invested in him. With Dowling, there isn't any bad thing he's done people can point to other than choosing to fight for the confederacy. But, with President Jackson people can acknowledge he did terrible things and still maintain we need to remember that nobody is perfect and that we need to consider his importance in an amoral way. I'm not saying anyone is being hypocritical here because Jackson supporters are probably also sympathetic to Dowling, but I think it's interesting that there is more public reluctance to demote Jackson than there is for Dowling, even though Dowling is the less morally-suspect figure. As far as I'm concerned, I'd sooner honor a small but divisive luminary like Dowling with a small honor like a street name, than enshrine the values of an historical giant like Jackson on one of the biggest stages our country has. We don't need to throw Jackson into the dustbin of history, but given we're only selecting a handful of people to represent us on our currency, it doesn't need to be Jackson of all people.

Enough of the people worship, I say no people at all.

Put pics of the Grand Canyon, Rockies, Monument Valley, Niagara Falls, Florida Everglades, etc... Maybe folks will be reminded to take care of our amazing piece of earth.

Agreed. Our currency should have American things on them like apple pie, guns, slogans like "USA! USA!" or "'Murica!", and Trump's toupee.

Jcee? Lol yes he would and he would do so proudly. He'll tell you that white people are superior to all and the Jew is responsible for everything bad so his response to that wasn't surprising. It was very stupid though and made no sense and that wasn't surprising either.

yeah, but naturalization exists, my income is largely USD, my taxes go to Cali and the feds and I like stirring s**t up with Americans to countenance the polite Canadian stereotype

After suffering a head injury as a teenager, Tubman was plagued with chronic pain, debilitating headaches, and narcoleptic fits. So, she was probably miserable all the time.
