[Official] Astros @ Rangers

Astros coming out the gate looking like the Astros of a couple of years ago. Take away the early part of last year and this is not that good of a team.

 

Do we have 2 Houston sports teams that overachieved in 2015?

This is not a good team, plus, bad managed.

Tonight, Marwin and GAttis on the bench, who goes as a pinch hitter with 2 outs, losing by 3 and men on first in the 9th.

Marwin right??? that is a no brainer, well, not for Hinch, for some reason he "thought" Gattis is BETTER.

Maybe Hinch does not knows that Marwin is hitting .333 in last 7 games.

And Gattis, under .200 for the season, and in last 7 games? Well, he is consistent, .200.

Ahhh, and the pitcher was a right handed reliever. GREATTTTTTTT

 

Ahhhhh, and for the record, Mr. REady is hitting .083 vs right handed pitching.

Are we going to win with Hinch as manager????

I think he will developed the young guys, but i don't think we are going to win.

 

it's nice that Houston sports imploded and flooded this week. And, we lost a Prince. And, the Rockets are about to lose because they can't hit free throws. Great times. That's right...we're getting pissed on from all sides.

Like I said..."frustrated". If you don't think Hinch/Luhnow/Ryan/whothehellever are not incredibly more pissed off than us fans are...

 

I'm sure you wish Keuchel was on his level. But alas he is not.

 

Lee Elia was more right than you will ever know.

 

So only one time have we started out close to this bad and made the playoffs and only 5 out of 18 times have we finished .500 or better.

Out of these 18 seasons we win an average of 71 games.

I think we can go on a run, but it's not looking good...

 

You really need to look at this history of ALL teams in MLB history with this start, and what they all went on to do.

Pretty sure there will be quite a few cases of turnarounds.

I think the Astros are missing Conger in the clubhouse. It's amazing what a dancing robot can do for morale. Is there any fun being had? I don't see it.

 

If we need the dancing robot to win, then we don't deserve to be on the field.

 

Well, there are at least two or three players who I don't think deserve to be on the field anyway based on their ad nauseam performances.

Team morale doesn't really have anything to do with who should be on the field anyway.

 

While true, its probably also true most (70-80%) of them didn't.

 

While I revise what I think has gone wrong this year almost daily, today I think that last year we started out well and that momentum bolstered confidence in a young team that carried them through August. Notice in September, the Rangers made their run and we nearly collapsed.

No, confidence by itself isn't the whole answer or reason. But its an integral part of self image and how you play the game. A relaxed, confident and fun playing team is going to perform better in every case over a tight, questioning, pressing team every time.

 

There is also something to be said about veteran leadership. The Rangers are a veteran team with a bloated payroll. To me, what the Rangers did last season in catching and passing us in the division to take the crown away from us was not totally unexpected. But, the amount of money the Rangers spent per their payroll and the fact they only squeaked by us...cannot be ignored even if Yu was out. What the Astros did last season was a rarity for how much they spent in comparison. I do think it was a little cocky for the team and mascot to be waving around banners saying "Come and take it!". That just gives other teams ammunition. And, of course, the Rangers took that slogan and countered it with one of their own...I think it was "We took it!". But, in then end, I guess it's all in good fun. Imo, though, rookie teams haven't really earned the right to be cocky..especially given how bad we were getting to this point. Be humble and hungry until you earn the right to be cocky.

 

I don't disagree, but I don't know if the cockiness last year came from the players as much as it coming from the Marketing/Social media team for the Astros. The players themselves seemed to stay pretty grounded, other than Gomez of course.
