Don't remember exactly read it once last year when it flooded bad in Houston. Probably to relieve some of the build up in Cypress. Water from Cyrpess reservoir goes to Addicks and addicks goes somewehre else.
So far, Kingwood has avoided most of this nonsense. But I'm hearing the Townsen Park and Ride is flooding (because of the San Jacinto river) and Metro is sending someone out to assess the situation. Really sucks for those that parked there this morning. They are having to leave work and hurry back to save their cars. But the buses only run once an hour between 9 and 3...
Why? There is nothing coming. The atmosphere is stabilized. Now tomorrow we may have another round like today, but that is a big IF at the moment.
I understand that.. my company sent out an email saying nobody is leaving, stop asking lol. Just wanted to hear why they thought it. There is a possibility of even more rain early tomorrow into tomorrow afternoon as well. So that should be interesting.
Judge Emmett said 4-6 weeks on hwy 6 being closed. Awesome. Can anyone confirm if barker cypress over mayde creek has reopened? I think it has.
I posted this on the last page. I don't see the road you are asking about it but it is some decent info. http://drivetexas.org/#/10/29.7871/-95.6479?future=false
These maps are garbage. I had to go to Bear Creek yesterday, and I'd usually take Highway 6, but since it was marked on the map as closed, I tried Eldridge, and that was closed. So I went up the Beltway to Clay--closed at Brittmoore. Neither of those was identified as closed on the map.
So I worked at HP for a while and have some friends that still work there. They got flooded pretty bad. Look at aerial footage in video below, like holy ****. This is off 249 and Louetta. https://youtu.be/q0Cr1H-pzQ4
OK so no more guessing. Information directly from Army Corps of Engineers. Addicks and Barker Reservoirs are NOT being opened. They are continuing to rise and will probably take another 2-3 feet over the next day or so. Neighborhoods around the reservoir are likely to absorb street flooding. They just can't open the reservoirs to offer relief right now. Bear Creek is expecting minor street flooding but no home flooding over the next few days. Eldridge and Clay will be down for multiple weeks according to Corps of Engineers.

I agree. It almost looks as if the clouds are preparing for battle in the dark and brooding silence. Bruised and sullen storm clouds have the light of day obscured. Looming low and ominous, in twilight premature. Thunderheads are rumbling in a distant overture.
