The vast majority of the dumbassness is due to Altuve and Gomez, and I don't think any amount of coaching is going to change them.

This team is good, we just need a better manager.

Are the sources the left and right side of your brain conspiring to spew silliness?

Y'all are wasting your time talking about a manager change.

On another note, anyone else have 0% confidence in George Springer when he comes up to bat in big situations? I'm not sure I've seen him get a clutch hit in a pressure situation yet. He has this look on this face like he's scared of the moment - at least last night he made contact (weak dribbler) v. striking out like he usually does. Frustrating because he's supposed to be one of our best guys and I just don't feel like I can rely on him to come through right now.

What's with the base running lately?

Gomez...Gomez...Gomez......completely different player compared to the 13-14 season.

I want him to lead off because he struggles with RISP

I think he is hitting around .210 on those spots.

He should've been told "if you swing up 3-0 or 3-1, you'll be released." Not only did he swing at ball 4 twice, he failed to recognize having Altuve on deck with only 1 out. That ab pissed me off more than some of the others.

The only strike he was thrown the whole AB was the 3-0 "get over" fastball right down the middle. Wouldn't have minded him swinging at that if he was sitting on it.

Also, just out of curiosity re: baserunning, Stros have made 13 baserunning outs (CS, PO, thrown out advancing). The MLB average is 8, the Pirates lead with 18.

Not at all... right now, half the lineup is not just sucking, its worse than having 2 Brad Ausmus/Adam Everett sucking (and nobody is playing like the gold glove caliber guys those two were, which made it somewhat palatable to tolerate their bats).

Add the fact that this team is no longer the best pitching staff in terms of ERA (in fact as of yesterday, it was the worst)... and its not surprising the record is what it is.

Lineup construction, and where guys bat, tends to even out in the long run... so wouldn't get too caught up with where a guy bats and why he's in a slump. I would be concerned as to their backup plan if Gomez never ever ever starts to hit better (still a big if... but yeah, I guess some guys can spontaneously just lose it). You can tolerate a poor bat from your C, where other facets are more important... but lineups won't survive when the 3B, CF, AND C are all significantly overmatched on a nightly basis (and some nights, add DH to that as well).

At the very least, you can tell Luhnow isn't going to hold back Reed/Moran any longer than he has to... there is a sense of urgency to not waste prime years of any of the core players (Altuve, Keuchel, Springer, Correa, Rasmus).

He's not clutch like Jeter.... some guys just rise up when the situations matter most, like the playoffs.... clutchness!

When the MIL trade was made, a Brewer fan came here and said Gomez has some WTF-plays in him.

He's been doing similar his entire career.

Something is wrong in his head. He isn't swinging anymore. All he's trying to do is make any contact and it's leading to these sad dribblers that barely clear the batters box. He needs a stint on the DL or something.

The next time he does a check swing/half swing ground ball to the right side I'm going to lose my ****.

    So probably tonight.

You know, the pessimist in me is thinking that, aside from our 14-1 stretch in April of last year, we're actually 8 games below .500 over the last 162 games.

Of course, the optimist in me is saying that all it takes to make your entire season is a 15-game hot streak. And hopefully we have another one of those in us this season.
