BBS was right to say that Adelman was better than Mchale.

Most 99ers were also 97ers. They (we) didn't just happen to be the first to register on this site by accident.

There's a lot of people who came after the 99ers who used to frequent the blog as well.

"Dedicated to the team I love" was the listing on Gopher.

When you have an older injury plagued team not a lot of coaches can do much except overachieve and that's what JVG did with those Yao-McGrady teams. When you have younger durable guys like Harden and hopefully Capela and Harrell a guy like JVG can do wonders. Players seem to like him even though he is known as a disciplinarian. I think its because they know he's literally got their back.

A great coach? How!? His offensive philosophy was dump it to the star and get out of the way - a simpleton philosophy that is too easy to defend. You don't see the Spurs or Warriors coaching employing that - it's constant motion and picks with them to make scoring easier. I attribute is defensive "prowess" to Thibs sitting on the bench next to him. Also, if he is so great, why hasn't he had a head-coaching job in the last 10 years?

I am an 84'er. Beats your ass by 15 years. 99er? What a joke!

Let me help you out bub. The Rockets did not come into existence in 1999. Your whole childish rant about being the first on a fan site is misplaced - you should be paying homeage to the fan who have been following the Rockets for decades before you were. Those are the true hero's of this board.

Yeah I'd say being out of basketball coaching for 10 years is a good sign that he's move on from being a great coach. Especially in the 2106 NBA.

Not that much of a JVG fan, but one thing i will say is that despite spending most of the year with only one positive offensive player, he was single handedly good enough to make that offense top 10. I'm not sure anyone could make the offense worse than this JB nonsense, and I'm comfortable that he could fix most of the defense.

Because he's enjoyed his time away from the countless sleepless nights of being an NBA coach and was doing broadcasting. I'm too lazy to find a link/article/whatever but he's said that and probably several times.

His name usually comes up whenever there is a coaching position available and JVG usually turns it down. He hasn't had a job in the last 10 years not because the NBA thinks he's a bad coach but because he didn't want to coach.

I thought I read somewhere that it was because he has a daughter still in school and wanted to spend more time with his family. She should be in college or nearing college age now so he should be ready to take on the long nights at work again.

He hasn't been coaching but he's been around the NBA broadcasting so I'm pretty sure he knows the style of the game has changed since then.

JVG is the answer to our miserable hell that is the Rockets right now.
