they do on a lot of them but not sure if that is one of them. That said i would be surprised if there wasn't some signage around that interchange since it does flood routinely. what a terrible story.
A lot of them do, but I don't remember if that one in particular does. I know someone else died last Memorial Day in that area, but he took an underpass that did have a flood marker. It's tragedy and I imagine if she drove into the high water, it probably happened similar to that video with the old man, her car would be submerged within about a minute, which doesn't leave much time to react. It was eye opening to me how fast those cars completely submerged.
Yup this is it. I was traveling with my friend, the husband, over the weekend. Still hard to believe. Thanks everyone for the condolences.
It's really scary. The Wimberly/Blanco floods last year, if you've never been in water like that (in a creek/river channel, with logs and boats and appliances and cars roaring past you) you won't understand. In a big city, just please stay home. Your car is not worth it.
My AC went out this morning. Not sure if it's somehow related or just coincidence, but damn. Can anyone lend me $15K? I'll pay you back in hugs.
Thats helpful when it's not raining so hard. In the case of very heavy rain and rapid flooding, you can't see the sign. A possible improvement is some visible signal when water reach dangerous level for those areas.
I'm sure Bechtel sent an email to delay coming into work. Why anyone would be out there yesterday morning is besides me.
Good morning everyone. Looks like we have another line of storms heading towards the area. The NWS is calling for "just" an inch or so with isolated spots receiving 2-4". Obviously any additional rain is bad right now so lets hope this line moves through quickly unlike Monday's storms. http://weather.cod.edu/satrad/nexrad/index.php?type=GRK-N0Q-1-24
I don't want to be thread police, but go easy, yes? Someone in this thread knew her and was with the husband. Rockets03, so sorry to hear your story. Really brings this event home.
I am not terribly worried about it. Sure the additional rain will scare some people but that line is hauling ass. It will be through here in like 30 minutes.
I know some don't carry their work computers home and do not have work mail set up in their phones esp the older folks. We had another guy (early 50's) tell me he drove to work Monday morning because he didn't know better and doesn't have access to work mail when he is outside the office. We got a notice at 6 AM saying offices are closed but his defense was " I am not paid to check work related mail outside office hours"
She was going to work on her normal route. She saw that road blocked off so decided to drive in a different direction. She called up the husband and said she is in some water and about 30 seconds later the phone goes dead with the husband on the line. He obviously got paranoid and was driving around all day looking for his wife. At about 4:00 PM I think is when he got the call from the police. I can't really imagine much worse. I really didn't know her much, but the husband is just an awesome guy.
Again sorry for your loss man. I saw your friend's interview on TV. He is completely broken but brought up some good points though. Condolences to her family and friends.
everyone should have their work email auto-forwarded to a folder in their personal email. it's saved me way too many times.
The rain this morning was very heavy, but passed through relatively quickly (west side). Maybe, 30 min worth of downpours.
A coworker told me that 6 (north of I-10) could be closed for up to 2 weeks. When asked where she heard that, she said "news". So whatever that's worth.
I don't know about 2 weeks.... According to this website, it is expected to be closed for 5 days http://drivetexas.org/#/10/29.7871/-95.6479?future=false
