Great... if we're speaking in hypotheticals, Gattis wouldn't have bungled the pitch on Odor's steal attempt.

Honest question... have you ever actually watched him play catcher, or are you basing your assumptions on how he is at the plate?

He's not terrible. Certainly not a gold glove candidate... Castro really isn't that level anymore either. He's a better athlete than Castro. He'll be able to make some plays that average catchers should make.

Will he be a better option than Kratz? Most likely.

I honestly haven't seen him catch just the fact that he's a big ol boy makes me think he's gonna be a litlle slower than Castro who is no slouch defensively. He may prove me wrong.

Him running on the basepaths alone last year (with his 11 triples) shouldn't have you questioning his speed. He's faster than Castro. Does he have the flexibility and arm that Castro has? Probably not... but he's not going to be the everyday catcher.

He caught 93 games in 2014 (for a Braves team that wasn't terrible)... its not hard to actually find footage and stats of him from just 2 years ago. You should try and check it out, rather than making generalized/uneducated assumptions on what he can and cannot do back there.

In trouble every inning. Let's leave him in till the game gets out of hand.

Lazy attempt by Castro there... thankfully Rangers are simply giving away outs with bunts tonight.

All the pundits are looking to be accurate when they questioned the starting pitching outside of Keuchel. Astros can't logically continue as is with this current rotation and expect to contend.

See now youre just arguing for the sake of arguing, speed on the bases has nothing to do with quickness. I said he may prove me wrong, get off your high horse.

    I wouldn't be so certain.

He won't be right off the bat, obviously. There's a better than average possibility it ends up that way though

Astros gotta make a massive trade again for a pitcher...meanwhile they obviously gotta withstand Lance being injured right now out hitting teams

Huh? You're the one basing all your fear mongering posts with negativity on how he "looks"... I've actually watched him catch while you admit you've never seen him back there (which again, was all of 2 years ago).

That's a high horse? Prove you wrong (when you're basing your logic on nothing of substance)? Get over yourself.

We have a bunch of average starters, more of a 4-5 kind of starter and not top of rotation.

I doubt he can catch a ton without either getting hurt, or starting to suffer in his AB's (not that his AB's are all that stellar now... but I do expect him to at least match last year's performance, which would be great for a part-time catcher/DH).

If he can catch, his bat will help a lot for that position.

Marisnick just doesn't look like a major league hitter. Need to give Kemp a look as a 4/5 outfielder.
