I just don't see this team losing Dwight and rebuilding in any meaningful way around Harden in one season and without a first round pick. This is a multi-year rebuilding process. I don't see Morey pulling any miracle short-cuts, either. He will have a hard time attracting anyone worth a max contract because it's doubtful they would want to come to such a mess of a team. The best we can hope for is some upgrades but we will have a gaping hole defensively in the paint without Dwight. I see a long term rebuild in our future.

He is NOT the savior - I just think he adds a missing dimension.....a real POST game.

What a stupid last three games to lose a first round pick. Absolute insanity. We get nothing but embarrassment.

I hope Denver wins the lottery.

Rockets suck, Astros suck, Texans suck.

    Houston is a laughingstock.

He's not good enough to even be that. He had a very brief stretch last year where he looked like NBA Talent but he was a total scrub prior to that and hasn't even come close to repeating it since returning from injury. Lots of guys who are marginal NBA players have great stretches but never become consistent - Ronald Murray and Jeremy Lin are two examples off the top of my head and even our greatest draft failure Eddie Griffin looked like our stretch 4 of the future for one month back in 2002.

With Dmo's free agency looming and no sign that he'll ever again play as well as he did for a few months last year, is he really a player in whom the Rockets should invest any more? **** no - trading him for a draft pick was absolutely great and it really sucked that Detroit came to their senses.

All this being said, if Harden and Howard dogs it in game 2, nothing would make me happier than to see them both benched for the rest of the series and let our third stringers (including Dmo) play all the minutes for the rest of the series.

This would make a good anti-Nike commercial.

There is so much wrong with this post - he was great last year for more than a brief stretch, and he has a post game but our coaching staff refuses to use it, he got a few post touches tonight, scored, got fouled and made his FTs.

He should be featured more often.

Yea...DMo is an off-season and pre-season worth of hard work away from being the effective player he was before again. I still believe in that dude. I think we expected too much from him coming back from a really bad injury this season. He's not a light switch.

Yeah, most of us knew this going in.

At least after this Les and Morey will look downright criminal keeping JB after this beating GSW will give us, if they do that Silver may have to intervene for basketball reasons.

Umm...you don't think hitting the lottery is an embarrassment for players? For the top bananas, its like a big red mark on their resume.

Yes, OP, another No. 14 pick would have been so much better.

Than a 4 game thrashing? Who says it has to be a 14th pick?

If you read my earlier posts in this thread (you obviously did not), you would have noticed I stated that pick could be utilized to rid ourselves of Brewer (ala Lin to Lakers trade) or any upgrade via trade.

We have a better chance at drafting the next Kawhi Leonard than we do at beating Warriors.

I don't think forcing the team to go through a painful 4 game sweep is a message that the team sucked since everyone already knew that coming in. That part I don't get from those who wanted the Rockets in the play-offs.

The Rocket players didn't think they sucked. Oh they were talking about how well they were playing and that they would going to be competitive against Golden State.

Even Morey was a bit deluded. Everyone in the Rockets Org - they weren't expecting what happened - you can tell the team was just shellshocked.

It's time Harden realizes that no matter what he does individually, it takes a team to win in the NBA. Even without Curry the Warriors handled the Rockets with relative ease. That alone should deliver a strong message.

The Rockets do not measure up to GS - but laughably they thought they did.

No finally this team can learn it sucks and that everyone is going to have to really think differently from top to bottom. Us getting swept by 20-30 points ever game is not a bad thing if it really shows how far away these guys are from actually competing at the top level.

It isnt about the pick for me. Making the playoffs means a successful season for Les. A successful season means less to evaluate, less changes. We need change........at something

The way people are talking about that pick seems a little off to me. Baring an extremely unlikely extended period of ineptitude, a first round pick was going to Denver sooner or later. Might as well go ahead and eat your Brussel sprouts now and be done with it rather than kicking the can down the road, where the shadow of the unfulfilled obligation can only muck up future machinations.
