2005. Cuban sent in tapes and complaints about Yao's illegal screens. It worked. Tim Donaghy later pretty much admitted so. "Donaghy also referred to a playoff series where "Team 3's Owner alleged that referees were letting a Team 4 player get away with illegal screens. NBA Executive Y told Referee Supervisor Z that the referees for that game were to enforce the screening rules strictly against that Team 4 player."[15] The playoff series was believed to be the first-round encounter between the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks in the 2005 NBA Playoffs. The Rockets led 2–0 in the series before losing in 7 games,[17] and then-Rockets head coach Jeff Van Gundy was fined $100,000 for stating that a referee was targeting Houston center Yao Ming." It is absolutely incredible how much the Warriors get away with on setting screens, most notably Andrew Bogut. Morey needs to gather footage and send it in to the league, because nearly every single screen shows Bogut just pushing the defender and backing him away with his full body and even using his arms. It blows my mind how he is NEVER called when it is so obvious. Something HAS to be done about this.
Moving screens, resting half their squad and it still wouldn't have changed the outcome. The league would laugh and have no reason to change anything.
Just let it go. The season lasts for three more game. Just enjoy them for what they are. Awful, terrible basketball....but at least we're here, right??,
They really should, those moving screens lead to 10+ points in the 2nd quarter alone if I remember correctly, pretty ridiculous.
Obviously JVG is a bit of a homer but I loved the "there's no taking on City Hall" comment. He recognized the biased officiating. Our players only made the situation worse by getting frustrated and occasionally retaliating.
The league is invested in Stephen Curry. They already know about the moving screens; hell they probably told Steve Kerr to use them more often because they're really easy for the general public to ignore.
Big difference between the Rockets and Warriors is the league favors the Warriors. Nothing will be done.
Bogut introduced a tactic that was common in Australian football where it looks like the other person in doing it (you'll see bogut do things like move back with the screen making it look like he's being pushed by the other team's player, often with a cpl hands up towards the ref), since they changed the rule in that game, it has miraculously stopped.
Yes, the refs may be bias for the warriors, but the warriors are still the better team. If it was called correctly, we wouldn't be down 30, but we would still lose. We should be complaining about jbb playing brewer way too much and Dwight's inability to catch a ball that's right in front of him.
It's not about us, it's about the game being officiated correctly, period. You want to know the best team is winning each series, whether it's us vs Golden State, San Antonio versus Golden State, or anyone else.
Exactly. I'm tired of watching this **** where the referees are having such a huge impact on the game. All I ask for is consistency on both sides.
Le$ should call on the officials to pull a Crawford-Duncan on JBB. Ban the clueless idiot for the rest of the playoffs. We'll lose the next 3 games, but at least we won't have to see his stupid face and Brewer flailing all over the court.
