Have you ever played baseball and lost a ball in the lights?

Its obviously not going to happen every single time... but it will happen more often to the players that play more games there, and this is now 2 games out of 6 he's had issues (vs. 0 over the previous 2 years).

Hell, even with the Astrodome blinding all players equally on all parts of the OF when it first opened... it still didn't affect every single fly ball of every game.

    Because you're not thinking straight.

There's no doubt the recent trades have been crap.
There's no denying HOU's history is mostly crap.

To suggest otherwise is complete homerism.

That said, I never disown my squads.

I don't think it's that simple. Regardless of what happens, it's still only 10 games.

Again, would you be panicking if the Texans started the season 0-1? Saying the season's over? Saying "it's simple; either the Texans will miss the playoffs and the complainers are going to be right, or the people complaining about the complianers and saying it's only 1 game will be right" ? No (I hope)...because it's such a small portion of the season, and there's a lot more time left.

Excuses, excuses. Springer doesn't need to be opening his mouth with weak excuses the way he's sucking to start the season. Like you even suggested, wear some freaking sunglasses if it's that big of a deal. Do what you need to do to give yourself the best advantage of making the play out there. Just weak on his part.

Its his home ballpark, They installed the LED Lights in February, if it was going to be a massive concern for one of your star outfielders, then why the hell do you install them? This is on someone, rather it be George or Astros management.

And at this point of the season, 6%, the texans would still be in the 4th quarter of that first game...loooooong season

It is absolutely that simple. You have the ability to wager whether or not they will suck throughout the rest of the season, or turn it around and be the playoff team we all expected before it started.

Sounds like since its "only 10 games", there's probably a heap of free money available to you on this forum. Throw some feelers out and take it all.

He was flat-out asked whether or not the lights affected him... would you rather him lie?

Its not like he held a press conference or made a statement out of nowhere about how he hates the lights... but even then, whats really wrong with that? They are brand new lights... they are bright as hell... balls do get lost in lights everywhere... and balls getting lost in *these* lights seems to be more of an issue for him.

Is he blaming the lights for his K-rate going sky-high again so far to start the season? That's a far bigger concern than his OF defense.

That would also imply that those saying "its over" now... stick with that course throughout the rest of the season, no matter what.

All of the knee-jerks would be the first ones back on the gravy-train.

Why the fk would you install the lights without asking your future long term outfielder weather it effects him or not? Thats the thing I dont get. There wasnt a lighting issue before this season, there was no reason to install the stupid leds.

No one is knee jerking nor is anyone saying the astros are done for the season. The astros need to make some changes, and denying that fact shows ignorance and I think thats what most posters are trying to state. Simply playing the its early and everyone is fine and dandy isnt the solution.

Our base running blunders are inexcusable and have been happening since last year. It didnt get better over time last year simply because the season went on.

You're really winning the award tonight for most unintelligible logic.

So, its somehow Springer's fault they installed new lights in the stadium now? Do you go to the owner of the building you're employed at and verify all upcoming structural and cosmetic changes about to occur?

In this city alone, they built an entire stadium that was hailed as the 8th wonder of the world... without any idea of what the translucent panels would do to the players they were building the stadium for... so yes, I can see where a largely cosmetic upgrade could be signed off on without considering the ramifications (and like I said, all new parks that have this sort of lighting have seen similar initial complaints... adjustments can be made to some positioning and light intensities).

Yes, yes there is. Repeat after me: 10 games in.

This is possibly (probably?) the most completely irrelevantly meaninglessly useless "factoid" anyone could conjure up.

Nah, some are saying they're pretenders... and that they'll be bad all season.

Some are even advocating for the likes of Justin Upton!

I would have had more respect for him if he said something to the effect of "yes the light bothered me on the play but it's a play I need to make" He flat out gave up and gave a whatever shoulder shrug after the play. Again KC was flashing the leather left and right in the outfield. I personally think Springer is mental right now and needs time off.

Its a cosmetic change to improve the look of the field both on TV and in person. Seeing it live, I agree it does make the entire ballpark look brighter... and on TV, makes the field look as if they're playing under sunlight.

Like I said earlier, do the owners of the building you work at ask your permission for every single cosmetic change?

I guarantee you there will be adjustments made if this continues to affect things.

That's just semantics crap... either the lights bothered him, or it didn't.

If it did, he's saying it did, and I don't care if he doesn't follow that up with some cliche'd statement about giving 110%, and "its on me", blah blah.

Also not sure he has the clout to suggest they make some alterations to the lighting... reminds me of the turf monster at Reliant (which obviously created a possibility for far more issues... and yet still took 10+ years to fix). They'll need to study it and fix it if they can... its not as if they can't figure out which of the specific light banks are possibly more of an issue than others, and change either the display angle or the overall intensity of those particular ones.

Yeah and having a clean up hitter who batted .238 and a OPS of a little over .300 on a world series team sure is a recipe for a ring

Now this is a statement we can all agree on.

Anyone that's driven down a highway at night can attest to the fact that LED headlights in your eyes ****ing suck. Why anyone thought they'd be a good idea in a baseball stadium is beyond me.
