I hated the trade then. But it is what it is.

Luhnow has been replenishing all of MLB in his post Cosart trades. Giving prospects away like hot potatoes for sheer ML talent. We aren't even talked my star power Amal talent.

But we will see how this all turns out. But Giles leaves a lot to be desired, he has sucked in Spring ball and all season long

    Really? "all"?

Luhnow covets club-controlled players; he manages payroll as much as he does talent (which he needs to do, given our young nucleus and their expected pay increases). Those players cost extra.

The good news is that the Astros have built an incredible system in a relatively short time by prioritizing scouting and investing internationally. They'll be able to easily replenish (as much as it can be easy) because it remains a priority.

When a club has an extremely deep farm system like the Astros, and you make a lot of trades.... this is what happens.... lets just hope he don't do what the Expos did giving up Brandon Phillips, Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee for Bartolo Colon.

Hopefully I'm not out of line posting a *bad* line by a former Astro

Kazmir went 4 IP 6 ER 4 days ago.

I know, I know...small sample size and he's still a good pitcher, right? But Giles sucks and all..

Appel went 5.2 innings, 5 hits, 2 walks, 5 k's 0 runs in his AAA start the other night. If Giles turns it around and the Astros get back to winning maybe both teams can be happy.

I think you're doing this wrong. You are only supposed to highlight all the great games by ex-Astros, to show that Losenow sucks.

My only question is where do we rank VV among the other Philly greats: Steve Carlton, Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Curt Schilling.

Wait, Schilling was once an Astro? Thanks Losenow.

Velasquez is good. We knew that. I wish we still had him, but we don't. Hope he stays healthy and has the career we knew he was capable of.

I think that's a line that many fans would have expected. I was very happy with Luhnow's decision to let him walk.

I don't, I hope he is mediocre and over paid by the Phillies for the next 15 years.

Problem is, the players we've received (the players who are supposed to be good) have mostly SUCKED.

Astros didn't try harder to resign him because he underachieved WITH US.

We look better if he plays poorly elsewhere, but he was a bad trade.

Luhnow is still doing a very good job overall, though

This is a different Vince than what I remember seeing last year. Dude has an edge and is confident. Wow, hope he stays healthy and keeps it up, even though that'll make me sad knowing we gave up a potential ace.

But there is a saying, "there's no crying In baseball"....

There is a good group of pitchers in the minors. Martes, Feliz, Musgrove, and a few more. You can't keep them all.... McCullers should get back to form soon. McHugh has proven it. Fiers was phenomenal for stretches. Fister was an elite pitcher 2014 and is quite capable.

I'm all in for Giles. Hopefully he dominates soon.

Velazques, Appel, Hader, Santana, Philips, Rios, etc are the enemies now.

How hard it is to build a farm when you have the number 1 pick years in a row? All of his trades have failed except one, and some of the failed picks could cost us all stars.

This should prove to you how bad the trade was. We gave away our best pitching prospect for this guy.

He did pretty fine with the Cardinals, who never had the #1 pick. I'm guessing he will run circles around teams without having the large slot money or a high pick.
